Josh and I found a place to break out the skateboards. Much fun, but a little freaky because of the concrete below. Still more fun than the roof of the house; that always gets Pam a bit nervous.

Dragon fly races

Spent the day with Pam and the kids at the Notkalvin Insect Speedway. Huge crowds turned out to watch them race while I took pictures. As you can see here, Amanda had the early lead as she rounded turn two. It was nice to get the dragon flies out for a good hard flight, as they have been cooped up in the polebarn for a while.

Eventually Pam won the race as both of the kids got distracted by their iPhones and crashed into each other as they tried to tweet and fly. Silly kids. That's not a safe thing to do.

Tunnel vision

So, I was watching cartoons this morning, and saw the coyote paint a tunnel on the side of a mountain, then Road Runner went through it. When the coyote tried to go through, he smacked his face on the mountainside.

I ordered some paint online (ultra, mega, super quick shipping), and since we don't have much in the way of mountains around here, chose to try it out on the side of an empty building. We have lots of those.

Once I painted the tunnel, I drove through! No problem. In my haste to go through, I left my son Josh behind. He tried to run and catch up, but smacked into the building.

I guess everything you see on TV is true.

Try it out large, it's worth all of that extra effort.

My idea center seems to be a bit cluttered. I started a few different pictures for the project today, but kept getting sidetracked with something else. I'm trying to clear some of the clutter.

This time I dragged the whole family into the Face Down with me. I couldn't resist this location once I saw the name of it.

There was a guy - you can see his reflection in the door - who watched and talked to us the entire time we performed the face down, then asked us all kinds of questions afterward. Once we stood up, two casino employees came out and asked what we were doing, and one of them said, do you want us to lay down, too? When I said yes, they turned and went back inside...

So, this is proof that you can have your cake and face down in it, too. What else are you supposed to do when your birthday conveniently falls on a Tuesday like mine did today?

There's another benefit to face downing in your cake... it's much healthier than eating it! The kids will survive without cake.

Took the family to Royal oak to have dinner and visit the Bean & Leaf to see the wonderful photography displays by several very talented Exposure.Detroit artists.
