Halo 4 Rocket Pistol WIP 5/9/12

This is an almost complete restart of the rocket pistol project. The WIP contributors to Project Requiem saw before was one solid piece with no moving parts. Now the top part opens in a similar way to how it's supposed to.

I thought about making the top part spring open when the trigger is pulled. The problem is the top part is too heavy to move by such an impulse or stay open (which is why I'm holding it up in the bottom picture). It could be lighter but not light enough.

I know, this thing looks pretty plain and boring and blocky. There isn't many good pictures of the project, which is why I sketched the pistol using what I could gather.

There's no good references for the Halo 4 Rocket Pistol online. So using what I could gather online (and pausing/screenshotting the Halo 4 E3 trailer many times), I came up with this sketch of the Rocket Pistol. I'll probably work off of this sketch for the LEGO life size model.

The main drawing is a bit squished looking. Oh well.

I'm probably starting over with the life size LEGO rocket pistol. I'd like to try to make it open revealing the detonation button.

And away we go!

1. My classes begin a week from today. My building spree was fun while it lasted!
2. I disassembled the Halo: Reach magnum to make the Halo CEA pistol. I didn't really like the LEGO Reach magnum much anyway, except for the grip.
3. My previous tag stated that I dislike CoD online multiplayer. That has changed. It's really fun.
4. I'm pretty sure the squirrels in my backyard are the fattest squirrels ever. Stop eating from the bird feeder!
5. I have not completed Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I'm working on it though! Water temple is next!
6. I have never fired a real gun.
7. I use my YouTube a lot more now. My username is Crack0tage
8. There are very few bands I like on my iPod that help me concentrate while building. Muse, Silverchair, and The Mars Volta are the only ones that seem to work well.
9. I'm a Mythic in Halo: Reach. Jelly?
10. While showing this girl my LEGO stuff on Flickr, my friend texts me (from a few feet away, for shame) saying "She wants your brick."
