We New Yorkers drove down to Maryland and my parents met up with us in Rockville to go to World Market. It was the start of a weekend-long shopping spree in the suburbs!

We met up at the Warby Parker showroom this morning to try on frames in person; we ultimately got the ones we're wearing in this picture, plus a pair of sunglasses each, and Holly even got a second pair of regular glasses. Can't wait for them to arrive!

I don't think I've ever gone out and declared "yes, let's have another round!" as many times as I did tonight (for both Cava and calamari). Holly's birthday dinner was a romping good time, with pre-dinner drinks and the most amazing calamari OF MY LIFE and then dinner at Takashi, one of Platt's 101 best restaurants in NYC and Tony Bourdain's "date night" spot in the city right now.

We didn't see Tony but we wouldn't have noticed him anyway, as Holly, Jason, Tania, Loc, and I enjoyed lively conversation, the grill-at-your-table meat, uni, and other delicacies.

Today despite the marathon closing all roads surrounding my apartment, we had a surprise baby shower for Jodi.

Cynthia, Elizabeth and I planned it and had so much fun thinking up the elements--we did all the decorating and little touches that I would want to do but never have the energy to do on my own!

Jodi says she was completely surprised, so that was a win too!

I realized that my 5th anniversary of moving to new york was this fall, so on the weekend closest to the day (and in reality, I moved up on a Saturday) I invited friends to come by a bar in Goawanus for a drink.

Part of what has made living in New York so awesome has been all the amazing friends I have here. It was a lot of fun to be able to see everyone!

I had my camera out the whole time but didn't get any good pictures at all. Jason and I got this cute one tho!

Holly pointed out that I often go out to dinner one on one with other girlfriends, but she and I never do that, so she asked me out on a date night. We splurged at The Dutch and it was wonderful!

I totally love our book club. We focus on YA fiction (though we've done some adult books too) and everyone is really great and thoughtful, so we have excellent conversations about the books. But we're all interesting people anyway, so once the book talk is done we have nice other conversations.

And we regularly go to Sheep Station--which now has outdoor seating!--and the waitstaff there are fantastic, plus really accommodate us (when we're inside, they give us the back room before anyone else is really seated there, and they turn the music down back there for us).

And today the weather was fantastic, the sky a perfect shade of blue with puffy clouds, and that just makes me happy.

Let's start with the fact that we were a bunch of people who met via Flickr hanging out for the day--one in from out of town.

Then we've got a trip to the Shake Shack, where upon checking in on Foursquare, we discovered fellow knitter/flickrer/twitterer Lisa was already in line with friends of hers--and quite near the front.

So we joined forces, designated two order-placers, and got our food what must have been a good 45 minutes faster than if we'd waited in the looong line.

Coney Island was windy but gorgeous today. The end of the pier was made for jumps for us on our little photowalk with Lauren!

This mall is the 8th largest in the US (according to Wikipedia). Even with that, there were only about 4 stores I wanted to shop in.

We are completely unabashed in our love of the Santa Fe Salad at Cheesecake Factory, and the few times a year we plan a trip to the 'burbs to go shopping, we are pretty much insistent that we have to go to CF in order to get it.

I swear we are both going to marry that salad.

Tonight was Hollys' Birthday (observed), with a dinner out and three (too short!) hours of karaoke. I made these classic mini cheesecakes (complete with Nilla wafer in the bottom) for dessert!
