My friend and fellow shooter Kara Wilson wanted to check out my new ABR800 coupled with my Vagabond Mini.

She called when I was setting up my first shoot with Chantel George who was nice enough to model for me even though I told her I would be fumbling through things figuring out how to use it.

A big thanks to Kara Wilson for this behind the scenes photo of me doing my thing.

I have the Vagabond Mini in the green bag with a 3' long cord running up to the ABR - just a perfect length.

Lots of shots - about 120 in all and the Vagabond Mini handled it easy. They're great little power packs. I love mine.

I was using a 135mm L prime for this because the zoom ring on my 24-105 is a bit hard to get at inside the barrel of the Bee. Besides I knew I would need practice readjusting the power as I "Sneaker Zoomed" in and out.

For the most part it was not a heavy unit to work with. Towards the end maybe a little bit but once I get used to it I'll be fine.

It's nice to be able to go out with gear that will fit inside a sling cooler like this and be able to get good results.

This combo of light, lens and battery pack is an awesome way to get started with outdoors shooting.

No meter for this - just trust the screen on the back of your camera and your instincts and go.
