Champagne for everyone!

National Library of Ireland on The Commons posted a photo:

This is the Coffee Room at the Antrim Arms Hotel allegedly in Portrush, Co. Antrim and we'd like to confirm that location.

I picked this one for the fascinating insight into late-19th century hotel dining. Some of the groups of four diners were going to be quaffing two bottles of champage - a bottle on the nearest table is Perrier-Jouët. Also love all the accoutrements waiting for use on that fantastic piece of furniture...

Date: Circa 1890??

Love this one for the way the boy in his lovely stripy geansaí has mimicked the stance of this 1798 commemorative statue in Wexford town.

The poster in the background may be useful for dating purposes. I can't read all of the poster, but the top bit says "Information for Consumptive People and for those who live with them". I think this may be to do with the nationwide campaign against TB in 1907/1908...
I think that this photograph captures the very final stages of its construction, just before opening?!
P.S. On Monday, 20 March 1865 (148 years ago), our very own William Lawrence was announcing the opening of his new Photographic Studio on the first floor of 7 Upper Sackville Street - just down the street near Nelson's Pillar!

National Library of Ireland on The Commons posted a photo:

Following on from yesterday's photo of Dillon Street in New Tipperary, here's the Arcade near the same location. Couldn't decide between the two images we have digitised, and as it gives us an end to end view of the Arcade, I decided to upload both...
