So I flew 7.5 thousand kilometres from London to Goa
...and he drove 550 kilometres to meet me!

Yep, I think that makes my longest distance ever for a flickrmeet!

I had a fun two days, catching up and (of course) lots of photography. Great to meet someone in real life, that had just been a flickrfriend.

Ive come along way with my light painting since my first efforts during a self portrait on here in 2007. This was a 1:1 session I ran for a student who wanted to know how to do it.

I arrived at my bluebell woods early and carefully walked up high, in search of good light... it was there, I played with it, then it left. I stood and waited a while, then wandered and stayed there for a whole extra hour for it to return before finally leaving. When the sunlight comes through these beech trees it transforms this place. I was delighted to catch them this way.

For over a year I've hardly taken a selfportrait...as I wandered through the bluebell woods, choosing my spot, I would smile at recognition of places where I've previously taken photos. It felt powerful. To know somewhere so well, to have an affinity with a place as beautiful as this.

I'd met a funeral director on a shoot in London the day before taking this, we got talking about death, like you do. After discussions with him, I decided this is where I'll be sprinkled, thank you very much.

Take a look in that Large and Dark way. Go on. Hmmm.

A quick nip back to the first Hitchin Photowalk which seems like a long time ago now but was only July 7th - there's something about the Summer which I'm sure causes time dilation, particularly when you're young and the Summer holidays feel like a lifetime.

There's a chance to see the deft pose I struck whilst taking this shot here - somewhat ungainly I think so don't expect anything super-duper... best move on to look at the rest of Sosij's photostream than dwell too long on a shot of APS.

The location was an unknown, but quite wonderful, courtyard of desolation right in the middle of Hitchin - you could walk past it and never know it was there. As there were a few of us taking shots on the photowalk we attracted the attention of the cooks whose kitchen backed onto the courtyard - they nipped out for a ciggie and to give us the obligatory Hard Stare... taking photographs... grrrrr.

The King is the second part of Par - which I always want to change to Bar.

I rather like the dripping paint and the contrast of the black and white against the colours - particularly the yellow - in the background.

Different from the usual - check it out Large and dark just to be sure what you're seeing!

Yes, acolytes, this is indeed a break from the normal 'no people in sight' photographs by APS which are typical of my photostream and is a genuine bona fide picture of a real life person... to be precise this is Flo who was one of two most excellent models at a recent studio session set up by the amazing fellow Flickrite, Sosij

This being not a picture of a building I'm also at something of a loss for additional description... bar the many thanks to both Sosij and to the indefatigable Black Wolf who supplied the studio equipment... and to Flo, Redcorn and everyone else who helped make the evening such a success.

In a previous life I used to like taking picture of people... and for a long time I haven't... but this session has rekindled that enthusiasm - who knows where this will lead. All encouragement welcome to help fan this re-ignited flame....!

I'll leave you to ponder the possibilities and to..
