I decided to try a timelapse on this beautiful object still in our solar system but is departing. Imaging about 1hr overall on Comet PanSTARRS. On this night May5/13 it was approx mag 7.85 and about 1.5au distance.

Comet C/2011 L4 Panstarrs

Panstarrs imaged April 15th. It was just beginning to cross the milky way at this point.

I haven't done much imaging of comets so wanted some practice. This was guided on the stars, relatively short subs and then stacked on the comet. One thing I learned was that it is hard to scrub out all the star trails in processing, especially with a milky way background. I was able to image the comet again later as it passed Cederblad 214 and applied bigger gaps between the luminance subs and am hoping it will allow me to remove a lot of the star trails in the stack. We shall see . .
