This was the site of Rev. Jim Jones' People's Temple,
The Rev. Jones and his flock eventually left this building, located
at 1859 Geary Boulevard for the South American jungles of Jonestown,
Guyana, where 913 temple members committed mass suicide
on November 18, 1978. Reportedly only 33 survived.

We ended up slacking off on Sunday -- even though we had decided to go ahead and leave on Sunday instead of Monday morning. We kept waiting for The Next Thing. By the time the Bobby awards and such were over, Carolyn was like, "We may as well stay for the potluck now, and that way we won't have to stop for food." It was delicious. Pasta, spicy Indian food, olives, chips and artichoke salsa... We even tried some haggis! It wasn't completely horrible, but was definitely different and not something you necessarily want to explore in depth.
