Fret work on wood is made in various dimensions, patterns, shapes, and sizes for several purposes such as: picture frames, table-tops, side-boards, decorative furniture, architectural detail, etc.
The wood used is from different types of trees with natural colors. Pieces are finely cut and sliced to 2-3m diameters and then hand-laid in exotic patterns. Once the artistic design is completed, a layer of wood preservative which comes in gloss or matt is applied on each piece.
Some artists also use small pieces of real or artificial shell, metal pieces such as, copper, bronze, or brass along with the wood inlay in their designs of certain Fret work.

There are mainly two ways the artists emboss designs on wood:
1-Carving the surface of the wood which makes the design stand out on the surface of the wood.
2-Cutting out separate pieces of wood in desired shapes and forms and paste them on a flat wood surface used as a base or background.

The U.S. occupation of Afghanistan has been an abysmal failure with more deaths of Pentagon troops. Six were killed on May 16, 2013 in the aftermath of a concerted bomb attack.

The Military Health System held the fifth annual Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Arlington National Cemetery’s Old Amphitheater. The ceremony honors the fallen military medical personnel of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Dr. Jonathan Woodson, assistant secretary of defense for Health Affairs hosted the event. Army Col. This is day 8 of my May Photo A Day Challenge. Todays challenge is "shape".

I am a soccer mom. My kids have played soccer every summer since they were four years old. During their younger years it was so darn funny to watch them running around while wearing jerseys three sizes too big, or watching them stop to pick grass or dandelions which they would happily pick, leave the game, walk across the field and give to me. At that age what colour of freezie they were going to get at the end of the game was more exciting than actually playing the game. Now that they are older, they are more competitive and focused on the game. And I am pretty sure they still love the freezie at the end of it. :)
