Medalta Pottery Milk Jug Pitcher Alberta 75th Anniversary Edition 1980

Medalta Pottery Redcliff, milk jug / pitcher celebrating the 75th anniversary of Alberta becoming a province, earthenware with brown edge accent.

Medalta pottery is a well known Alberta pottery works that was based in Medicine Hat and Redcliff Alberta and operated until 1954 and is now a museum and art center in Medicine Hat.
This jug was made in 1980 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Alberta becoming a province of Canada.
It is in the old style in a natural shade with a dark brown drip along the edge and a slight basket weave in the lower half. The jug is marked on the base as shown with the 75-year symbol. It stands 4 ½’ high and measures 2 ½” across the base and 3” across the top.

The jug is in excellent condition, with overall crazing but no chips, nicks or cracks.
This is a heavy little piece, with thick sides. The glaze is a bit rough in spots very similar to the early pieces made for household use.
This is an excellent choice for the farmhouse or country style kitchen. Use it to serve milk at breakfast or sauces at other meals. It could serve double duty as a lovely rustic vase filled with field flowers.

I love those "paint it yourself" ceramics places. Here's a butterdish I did a few years back, because I could never find a painted one the right size. All the fancy ones in shops are made for that wide European butter, and I'm a Land O' Lakes kinda gal.
