The Irish Sea at Culleton's Gap, Curracloe, Wexford. Christmas Eve, 2012. Winter sun breaks through a dull Christmas Eve in Wexford. I make for the beach, catch the light before it vanishes behind the trees at Raven point. The next day, Christmas Day, I return and swim, arcs of pain shooting through my shins as I wade into the cold water of the Irish Sea.

Driftwood piled up on the beach near the trapper's hut at Mushamna, "Mouse Harbour", Woodfjorden, northern Svalbard. There are no trees in Svalbard - the wood in Woodfjorden is carried on currents from the rivers of Siberia.

Solar Power vs. Fossil Fuels

Dublin Sunset over Ringsend: Source of solar energy setting behind user of fossil fuel energy - sun setting behind Poolbeg Generating station, Ringsend Dublin, The Walkers are on Bull Island, in North Dublin. The chimneys are due to be demolished in 2010.

The techie geeks amongst may be interested to know that I shot this at 400mm - I'd been looking for seals up the top end of Bull Island, didn't find any, and was walking back with my Canon 100-400 IS USM 4.5-5.6L lens on when I saw this.

Update: I've decided to do a tighter crop ...
