My Other Life – Seven Days of Self

Video games, longboarding, weight lifting. I am a tomboy. My friends and family also know me as a bit of a hard ass. You won't hear me talking about my feelings or see me cry. I've been called robotic and icy, and I am – for the most part – okay with that.

The truth is I do have a lot of emotion, I just let very few people close enough to see it. The couple of people who I have let in did of course hurt me, but that's life.

I do like to show affection, I have felt overwhelming love, I do like falling asleep in someone's arms.

That's my other life, the part you guys – and very few – ever see.

Rick and I are embarking on seven days of self, but with a twist! We need you to make suggestions for a theme, which you can do by leaving a comment here, or shouting at us on Twitter, Facebook etc. We will then put the chosen suggestions out there for you guys to vote on, and whatever receives the most votes is what we will both base our next photo on. Get at it!

Ahh, this wee boy was too cute not to snap. He was walking beside his mum while his dad tagged behind (I don't know why, maybe he was checking out his woman's goods). The wee boy kept turning around to make sure his dad was still there, and my heart melted.

This is a shot from a few weeks back from my shoot with David. Looking back I wish I had balanced my flash with natural light better, got more of the background in, used some of the nice sun we were getting, and hopefully given it less of a funeral-undetaker feel.

Gotta get in the zone before you kickflip indie pop shuvit 540 (I just made those tricks up thanks to an excessive amount of time playing the Skate series).

Hopefully I'll have a few shoots lined up over the weekend. I want to try doing something different. Maybe something with *gasp* my Speedlite.

I had quite a busy day yesterday. Worked my usual hours with a wee break for drumming, finished up to photograph my friends who are into skating, then boosted to a local gig to photograph the headliner. It felt good to be whoring my camera again.
