For this picture I converted a single RAW file to a HDR and tone mapped it. Then I made a vignette and played around with the levels in PSE4 until I got an effect that I liked.

A chair uploaded for the 1 thing, 1 week group.

The original uncropped, unmanipulated picture is here.

We were coming home on the freeway tonight and encountered three bikers doing stunts. My camera was in the trunk so I asked my 7-year-old daughter to take a picture with her camera. (It doesn't have zoom so I cropped the shot a little.)

This guy was going about the speed limit (90 km/h) in late afternoon rush hour traffic.

Subaru Six Stars

Subaru is a Japanese word that means unite, as well as a term identifying a cluster of six stars, which the Greeks called Pleiades - part of the Taurus constellation.

According to Greek mythology, Atlas' daughters turned into this group of stars. In 1953, five Japanese companies merged to form Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. The new corporation adopted the Subaru cluster of stars as the official logo for it's line of automobiles.

A little background story to the picture: I went to a NWIC Subaru cruise through the Cascade Loop in Washington state and before I went home I stopped at the Krispy Kreme in Burlington for a little nostalgia. It used to be a big cruise destination for us (before a KK opened in Canada). We would make doughnut runs with the VW club and I would often bring 4 or 5 dozen back across the border for friends and family. I have a picture of my (greatly loved, but long sold) Passat parked in the exact same parking spot .

I used PSE4 to desaturate the color and then I equalized the image to emphasize the shadows. The orignal shot was crooked so I used the straighten tool but decided not to crop it.

Parked next to Harbor Center, Vancouver, BC. I was waiting for the sidewalk to clear and this woman walked into the frame. The original picture was quite static so I used Photoshop Elements 4 to add some blur. Interestingly enough, I didn't do anything to make the woman look like she was floating above the sidewalk--it's just that particular camera angle.

This picture was taken with a Nikon Pronea 600i APS film camera held to my chest. The speedometer is calibrated to km/h and the outside temperature is 1 degree Celsius.
