Autumn at Torres del Paine National Park - few hikers on the trails but the risk of bad weather is high. I got lucky and had a calm clear day for a hike up the Valle Frances.

I left my camera out on the platform at Paranal for 6 hours. During the night, the four giant telescopes all spun around to point at various different targets, a few people walked across the platform, the Earth turned and made the stars look as if they were moving across the sky, and a small speck of dust that had probably been hurtling through empty space at a few tens of kilometres per second for thousands of years suddenly found the Earth in its way, and burned up in a flash in the upper atmosphere.
