The peony is native to China. It is among the longest-used flowers and along with the plum blossom, it is a traditional floral symbol of China, where it is called 牡丹 (mǔ dān). It is also known as 富贵花 (fu gui hua) "flower of riches and honor", and is used symbolically in Chinese art.
These species of anemone are actually native to China, despite their common name of Japanese Anemone. The flowers became known in Europe after a specimen was recorded near Nagasaki in 1695, and by the time the first plants were introduced in 1844, they were already known as Anemone japonica. The name is still sometimes used in catalogs, but most modern varietals are descended from Anemone x hybrida.

The name anemone comes from the Greek word anemos, meaning wind. Anemones are sometimes called windflowers.
Parrot tulips are wonderfully colored, with deeply fringed, frilled and wavy petals. These tulips bloom on strong stems amid striking green foliage. Parrot Tulips are well-known for their unusual feather-like flowers. Parrots can produce petals with feathered edges in various textures and densities. The petals may curl in odd directions, twist or wave. The colors may exhibit flame variations for multiple hues.
he Kwanzan Flowering Cherry tree, Prunus serrulata "Kwanzan", is one of the most popular cultivars of the flowering cherry trees. This deciduous tree rapidly grows to height of 20 to 30 feet. The blooms are a clear pink, double flower (multiple petals like a carnation). The blooms tend to last 3 weeks, yielding to a light green foliage with a red tinge.
The Kwanzan flowering cherry tree is also known as a Japanese flowering cherry tree. The leaves turn to a reddish-copper fall color. A beautiful ornamental flowering tree.

An ornamental cherry tree from Japan that is admired for its double-petal flowers and bright pink blossoms, it does not have the delicate appearance of the Yoshino, but it is still extremely attractive in its own strikingly colorful way. It also contributes a certain dramatic consistency to the scenic narrative ...

The double flowering lacy pink blooms of the Kwanzan flowering cultivar of the Japanese Flowering Cherry tree form fluffy globe units that will completely cover the stems and branches at the flowering climax.

An ornamental cherry tree from Japan that is admired for its double-petal flowers and bright pink blossoms, it does not have the delicate appearance of the Yoshino, but it is still extremely attractive in its own strikingly colorful way. to my friends here on Flickr who celebrate this festival of freedom, Passover, I send you my warmest wishes for this holiday! Eating matzah reminds us that our core self stands independent from all the enriched ingredients of our lives. Our truest identity is not connected to the wealth we have accumulated, our social status, our homes, or any other artificial additives. Real freedom tastes like matzah. Although the world we live in proclaims itself to be liberated, Judaism has celebrated a different kind of liberty for thousands of years. The freedom of Passover is the freedom of knowing who we truly are -- a liberty from false perceptions of self -- and this is a freedom we are all hungry for.

"Growing as a multistemmed large shrub or small tree, Magnolia × soulangeana has alternate, simple, shiny, dark green oval-shaped leaves on stout stems. Its flowers emerge dramatically on a bare tree in early spring, with the deciduous leaves expanding shortly thereafter, lasting through summer until autumn.

Magnolia × soulangeana flowers are large, commonly 10–20 cm (4–8 in) across, and colored various shades of white, pink, and maroon. An American variety, 'Grace McDade' from Alabama, is reported to bear the largest flowers, with a 35 cm (14 in) diameter, white tinged with pinkish-purple.The exact timing and length of flowering varies between named varieties, as does the shape of the flower. Some are globular, others a cup-and-saucer shape."
Stunning, the Saucer or Tulip Magnolia

A hamantash (also spelled hamentasch, homentash, homentasch, (h)umentash, pluralized with -en or -n; Yiddish המן־טאַש) is a pastry in Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine recognizable for its three-cornered shape. They are generally made of a filled pastry circle with three edges folded in. It is eaten during the Jewish holiday of Purim. They are made with many different fillings, including prunes, nut, poppy, date, apricot, fruit preserves, chocolate, dulce de leche, Halva, or even caramel or cheese.

The name hamantash (המן־טאַש), is a reference to Haman, the villain of Purim, as described in the Book of Esther. A more likely source of the name is a corruption of the Yiddish word מאן־טאשן (montashn) or the German word mohntaschen, both meaning poppyseed-filled pouches. Over time, this name was transformed to hamantashen, likely by association with Haman. In Israel, they are called אוזני המן (Oznei Haman), Hebrew for "Haman's ears" where children are taught these tasty pastries are the ears of Haman.

Delphinium means "Little Dolphin" because the ancient Greeks saw in the shape of the spurred buds a miniscule finny dolphin. The dolphin was anciently associated with mercy, & legends of dolphins saving sailors from drowning have recurred throughout human history. Dolphins were the escourts or steeds of beautiful ocean-nymphs, having once been land-dwellling men whom Dionysios had turned water-dwellers.

I found these delphiniums quite by accident .. they were on sale after Valentine's Day ... so I bought two branches of them for $1 ... only after I took some photos and looked at them in macro form, did I understand what beauty they possessed ...

The Fuqua Orchid Center is home to the largest collection of species orchids on permanent display in the U.S. and hosts a wintertime display known as Orchid Daze. Its unique Tropical High Elevation House provides the correct habitat for montane orchids and companion plants from around the equator at elevations of 6,000 to 10,000 feet. An Air Washer System, technology adapted from the textile industry, was combined with traditional greenhouse heating and cooling to create this environment, and allows rare orchids to thrive ...
A highlight of any trip to Atlanta Botanical Garden is a tour through the Dorothy Chapman Fuqua Conservatory. Inside this beautiful and inovative structure are collections of exotic tropical plants such as palms, cycads, ferns, orchids and epiphytes (air plants).
