Shot this with the Leica Summicron 50mm f2. I was in a car whizzing past a rubber plantation.

Had to shoot thorugh glass as I did not want to risk dropping my cam :). the colour cast is from the car window.

PS: I swear to god, you will have to pry this lens from my cold, dying hands!

"A mildly venomous, yet docile species, the Oriental Whip Snake is commonly found in forested and rural areas. It feeds on vertebrates, including small nesting birds, lizards and frogs. The young are born alive, and are brownish in colour.

Its profile is slim and elegant, and adult colouration may vary from light brown to dull yellow-green and often a startling fluorescent green. There is commonly a thin pale line along the sides of the body. It is most commonly encountered whilst sunning itself on secondary growth along the forest edge."

Sorry if I said it wasn't venomous...guess I was wrong..hee. But it is usually very shy and reticent and will seldom attack.

This series of shots on this little grasshopper was inspired by a contact who has become a dear friend. His encouraging comments on my insect macros never fail to cheer me up. He totally understands why I shoot my insect macros the way I do. Sam, this series is for you :))

This leaf is also known locally as the CB Leaf. 'CB' is the acronym for the local (and rather vulgar) term for 'vagina'. I guess you can see where it gets its name from! For some strange reason, the new leaves appear from the axil of the old ones. In days before disposable ware, the leaves were also used to wrap rojak (a local salad). It is also used to wrap tempeh (Malay fermented soyabean cakes).

This pupa was huge (about 2 inches long) and so shiny, it looked unreal. I wonder what butterfly or moth it belonged to.
I was tempted to bring it home and see what would emerge eventually. But the thought that I might end up with a huge, furry moth fluttering in my room made me think twice!

Okay...I know this is not the best, compositionally speaking but I wanted to post a picture to celebrate the return of my BABY today :))

I didn't get many chances to shoot this little hopper cos the mozzies were zooming in fast on my butt and my toes!!

Note to self: DO NOT wear flip flops and low-rise jeans when shooting bug macros :P

I was prepping for lunch, slicing veg and such. Just as I was about to empty the trash, i saw something in there that would make a good pic. So I quickly retrieved it from the trash and grabbed my cam. In case you are wondering what it is, it's the bottom part of a stalk of vegetables. You can still some grit on it. I'm a macro-maniac....I think I need help...hahaha!
