Some of you may remember that, when I was still active on Flickr earlier, we had 2 cats (Pounce and Dash). Well, we moved. And now we have 4 cats!
One of them is Fred, mister huge himself. 6,5kg and still a bit light for his size, and with humongous paws. He's as sweet as he is dominant, which causes the occasional struggle, but he settled in quite fast. He loves having a home with a couch in it.

This does not seen to be a good week for the dogs I photographed.

Last Saturday I went on a walk with the Basset Hounds again and one of them, Jack, collapsed in the forest. His heart was racing like mad, so his owners took him to the vet for tests. Most likely he's suffering from a heart condition.
On Sunday my parents called me to say that Kaya was really ill and they had called the vet, so she could free her from all of her suffering on Monday. I was there with her and although I'm also sad, I'm really happy that she found peace, because she was falling every 2 minutes and getting spasms every 5 minutes. Her breast cancer had most likely spread to her brain.
And then on Monday a friend let us know that his Sheppard Aagje was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of breast cancer and might not even make it to the end of the week. This is just not a good week.

Last Saturday I went on a crazy walk with 24 dogs (of which 23 were Basset Hounds, imagine the chaos!).
This doggy is Vienna. She was rescued as a tiny pup from a breeder who hadn't treated her very well. She has needed a lot of close care, physio and medicins, but if you see her playing now, it has all been worth it.

Hannah is a Basset Hound and a rescue-dog, but above all she's an incredible flirt. During our walk with 23 other Basset Hounds and 1 dachshund (the poor thing has never been barked at as often as during that walk) Hannah was constantly teasing the boys and rolling on her back, showing of her gorgeous belly.
When she finally took a rest, we got to enjoy this beautiful moment .

Last week we went on a short holiday to France. We visited Paris, Disneyland and the Parc des Félins. It was a great week, but the last visit really was awesome. Armed with our binoculars and camera, we went on a scavenging tour. The felines have big territories, so you won't always be able to spot them, especially without the binoculars. But after 7 hours, we saw at least one of every species. Yay us!
There were big tigers and lions, but also tiny ones, funny ones and and and KITTENS! So cute. Ow and lots of silly lemurs, but you'll get to see those from me later.
It's nearly a 6-hour-drive, but I'm pretty sure this won't have been our last visit to the parc.

The biggest guys of them all, although the lions try to make up for that with their manes. At the start they were all in the back, and it was pretty though to spot them, but after a while they suddenly came straight towards the fence. As did 3 other photographers with huge lenses... I felt such a noob with my tiny lens ^_^
It's nearly a 6-hour-drive, but I'm pretty sure this won't have been our last visit to the parc.

This cheetah was actually purring the whole time we stood at the fence. Almost luring me to go try and pet it. Smart kitty.

Yay us!
Which I damn well should be though, because it's a quite expensive undertaking, as I just discoverd!
And I got to test my new tent for product photography, that I got last week from a fellow photographer as a thanks for helping him out. Yay :)
(I'm wondering how many pervs will check this, when I tag it with both Tape and Shoe!)

Pet portrait - Dash

Dankjewelske posted a photo:

It's Dash again! I'm sorry, I just can't help making shots of this guy when he's making his angel faces. He can be rude, he can be way to rough when he's playing with Pounce, but basically there is no evil bone, muscle or cell for that matter, in him. He's enjoying life in a way that makes me envy him on many occasions. It's one of those cases where you actually wish you'll start to resemble your pet a bit.

Woah, I'm rambling ^_^.

On another, pet-related, note: one of my aunts basset hounds (she has 6) escaped on Friday and hasn't been home since. He's a very traumatised dog, that most likely grew up as a breeding dog. They took in their home when he wasn't used to humans at all, and after a few years, he's still really really scared of basically every human, even though they made lots of progress. Last year he escaped and it took them 10 days and an actual hunter to catch him again. He had lost 10 kg even though he sneaked to the backyard at night to eat.
This time my aunt and her dogs were attacked by another dog, and in the hassle 2 dogs got away and 1 got seriously bitten (she was in surgery but is ok now). 1 Dog ran straight home, but Jacob, the other one, took a sprint for the woods. He's now seen regularly within 300m of their home, but because of his fears, no one has been able to lure him or catch him. I was hoping he'd come home tonight again, but not yet. I'm pretty worried for the dog, but also for the sanity of my aunt (and uncle). I saw what it took of them last year and to see them go through it again is just really, really awful. And there is just nothing I can do to help.
So I'm editing kittypictures. And thinking of stuff I can send over to them, to help them in some other tiny way.

If you live in the Netherlands, near Neeritter, and have seen Jacob, please don't hesitate to contact us. Here is a link with a picture and some info.

Last Sunday we had a party for Rutgers mom and step dad, because of their 65th birthday and their 10-year anniversary.
As a gift, we took an old childhood picture of Rutger and his brother and made a new version of it. And since it was fun, we took some more pictures and chose to print 2 more on linen as well, just slightly smaller.

One of the other 2 we printed. I'm absolutely in love with how it turned out, if I may say so myself ^_^ I'm so happy I got them to pose in the windows on the first floor!
