Timelapse #2 - Teignmouth Harbour Sunset (01.02.2008)

Just uploading a few of my timelapse videos to check out this new Flickr Video stuff. Unfortunately some of my better ones are over 90 seconds long. They run at 15fps, and I've tried to use TMPGEnc to re-encode them at 24fps to shorten them but it's not happening at all - I thought it'd be simple so if anyone knows a way to re-encode XviD at a faster speed, please let me know! (Of course, i've deleted the source images :-s)

Sunset (ish) at Teignmouth harbour. Bit of a shame - was a lovely afternoon, sky was full of delicious sunset colours but by the time I got down to the pier I was presented with this great big fuck-off cloud. Still, clouds are cool in timelapse even if grey isn't.

Really don't like this photo one bit. Bit of distortion on the cloud where my tripod must have shifted slightly, and I just plain don't like the colours or anything really. Quite why I bothered uploading this I don't know! Gone soon, I'm sure.

Beach Puddles at Crooklets, Bude

One of my favourite photos I've ever taken. The puddles of water on the sand make it for me, almost moon-like. The only shame is that the house that you can see in this photo isn't further down the headland so that it'd liven up this shot a little - a combination of the two photos would be perfect.

This is a nice little country lane near the wind farm at Delabole, Cornwall. I really like the "see up and see down" result from using a wide angle lens in portrait format, and the puddles, fence, clouds, and curving-away road make for easy composition.

Big fan of the nicely textured grass and rocks that make up the foreground and middle distance. The sun's powerful shimmer on the horizon is a bit annoying, but I'll live with it.

The other one was a bit grey, but this time I got a lovely moment in between the clouds and the photo is much nicer for it. Check out the wind turbines in the background at the centre of the photo, and lovely textural detail on the grassy bank. Classic HDR stuff really.

Shame about the blown out sun, I don't really know how to combat that with the limited equipment and motivation I have. A shame as it's kind of the only blot (along with the slightly mismatched contrast it encourages) on what would be a real nice photo otherwise.

Another photo where 6 months later I come back and have a look and realise how shit it is! Horrible colours, loss of detail in sky, slight blur top left, yeuch! Really should delete this.

Daymer Bay in Cornwall, viewed from Bray Hill. The beach and the water are all good, clouds came out a bit grainy though. Really must get a sturdier tripod and a wired shutter release cable.

A bit of the rocks of Greenaway Bay in the foreground, with Daymer Bay and Bray Hill in the background. Classic clouds for HDR with nice colour on the sea and nice texture on the grass and rocks. Just plain nice.

This one's a beaut, lovely. Look at that damn lens spot though, d'oh! Can't believe I missed it in processing hehe. Lovely bit of HDR tho - classic clouds for it, lovely textured sand, good landscape,and people what didn't go all blurry.

Another nice HDR of Daymer Bay with Bray (Brae?) Hill in the background, this one loses the lovely texture of the sand but we've got rockpools and reflections instead.

I'm a sucker for these dark orange sunsets behind trees. Always imagine they could be taken in an African savannah with lions and giraffes and whatnot about. This one wasn't obviously, it's just Mules Park in Teignmouth.

Lovely look at Polzeath with a low enough tide to start exposing some of the excellent picturesque rocks, which really make this shot from me. Photo taken from the cliff path. Fucked with the colours a bit too much but I think it still works.

Man I really love the look you get from a wide angle lens used in portrait orientation. Great sky, great ground. Lovely balance to this shot, with amazing wispy clouds and fine textural detail on the foreground sand.

This one was my first ever. Some clouds moving on top of Mules Park, Teignmouth. It was windy and my PClix lead fell out of the camera! Scratch ending!

WOW! In about a day this video has had over 1000 views, more than probably all of my photos put together! I don't understand why though - please check out this one: Timelapse #2 - Teignmouth Harbour Sunset... I think it's far superior! Thanks again guys
