Sea urchin risotto from Blue Marlin, West L.A.

Creamy, rich and delicious, with the fresh ocean tang of uni and the earthiness of orzo and mushrooms. Great textures.

I've literally craved this for years.

The Pod and I love to eat green beans and sea salt in the summer. If you cook them up perfectly al dente, pop a little butter on top and then sprinkle with the salt you have the easiest side ever. And it's good, too. This red sea salt looks beautiful.

Made by Lillie Belle Farms, purchased at The Meadow in Portland. The lavender-infused caramel is very, very nice; dense and chewy with a subtle hint of floral flavor.

My ice cream shop friends sent me home with a selection of housemade sweets which they sell in the store: sea salt caramels, marshmallows and bacon brittle.

The caramels are very, very soft and buttery with the perfect touch of salt. The marshmallows have been fresh and pillowy, just perfect with my hot cocoa or just for a sweet treat.

And the bacon brittle? It is ridiculously good. Generous pieces of Neuske's bacon in an amazing crisp, toffee candy. Honestly, I almost want to go back to Phoenix for more.

Best dim sum I've had in California, hands down. I tried this place for the first time last weekend and yes, it's a little pricier than most of the dim sum joints around, but it is SO worth it. Pictured here are fried bananas, steamed bbq pork buns, fried pumpkin balls and egg custard tarts with bird's nest. Seriously delicious.

I've been wanting to try these Poco Dolce bittersweet chocolate tiles for ages. I finally found them sold by the piece so I could sample a variety of the flavors. They are wonderful! The chocolate isn't as dark as I expected, but it's very, very good chocolate, lustrous, rich and flavorful. So far I've had the burnt caramel, which had a delightfully crisp caramel toffee and the almond coconut, which was like a souped up Almond Joy.

Dark chocolate, espelette chili pepper, sea salt and olive oil. This was actually on the appetizer menu. A very nice sweet/salty combination (though a touch too sweet).

Solid bento dinners and shabu shabu. Everything was tasty, but nothing spectacular. Except for the bacon-wrapped beef liver--that was delectable.

Bonus: I drank that whole bottle of sparkling nigori sake and only got slightly belligerent.
