July 2012 - Iceland - Pebbles by the Beach

1000words.com.sg posted a photo:

July 2012, Iceland - Pebbles by the beach. I picked up some pebbles along my journey. I chose the smooth, beautiful ones and avoided the rough, unpolished ones. Curious, i asked myself 'why?'. In my journey, i realized that the forces of nature plays an important role in shaping us. Pebbles by the most extreme, harshest conditions are often smooth, silky and round. The ones that are not subjected to these process are often dull, jagged and rough. In life, we can choose to place ourselves in the extreme conditions and come out smooth and beautiful. Or avoid these elements and remain ugly and rough. We all start in the same way but have choices to end differently. I am learning. I am letting myself be weathered by the elements. It would be good if I turn out to be a beautiful pebble that someone wants to pick up and bring home. If not, it would be just as good a round, smooth pebble that doesn't cut the people around me.
