In the stillness of the morning

In the stillness of the moning I took some time to enjoy the first light in Pulau Duyong. I simply love the squeaking sound caused by the movement of the wooden planks against nails as the smooth wave passes under the riverside dock. There are no other sounds as I soak in the stillness of the morning. Even the traffic sounds are distant. It is a reverent, hushed kind of peace that is too easy to miss if you don’t take the time to sit still long enough for it to find you. And I realize that in my innermost being, this sense of peace, such as I experienced this morning, is what I long for. It is what we all long for.
