I quite liiked these neon-effect clothes pegs hanging on the washine line at my Mum's - particularly when contrasting with the green trees in the background.

There's a set in my kitchen, what am I gonna do?

This rather well built kitchen shows off not only one of the Wallace and Gromit sets (bottom left) but also shows you what a typical kitchen may have looked like back in the day.

The television is showing adverts for old products (in this case Homepride flour) and has plenty of items in the cupboards such as Persil, PG Tips Tea, Birds Custard and many more.

Along the South Bank there were plenty of entertainers with various acts, and even a merry-go-round as well.

Here, the entertainer has a rather large bubble contraption so if you wave the sticks and rope correctly, you get what this girl managed to do - a really large bubble!

Sometimes a sign is so bad on a shop front that you have to see it for yourself.

In this case it's Levenshulme Appliances on Stockport Road. The signwriter should be sacked for the appalling use of grammar, as this should clearly say "We sell and repair home appliances".

UPDATE, March 2009: This shop has now closed, so the sign is here for historical purposes :)

In the basement of Victoria Baths, there's some aprons and tea towels which have been left to dry for the weekend. Seemed unusual to use a basement room this way, but there's a washing machine next door too - so maybe it's for the volunteers etc.

I need a WEEE, Man!

One of the iconic pieces in the gardens at the Eden Project is WEEE Man, made entirely out of equipment which now has to be recycled under WEEE regulations.

WEEE, in case you wondered, stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and is a directive for the recycling of such electrical goods.

I think they've been put to excellent use here.

The Manchester Mangle

This old device (and still working too) is a mangle, used when washing clothes back in the day. You'd run your item of clothing through it to squeeze all the water out, hence the bucket of water below.

Obvious road sign number 1, I think. Beware of waves, when you're by the sea? You don't say.

Actually this warning is pretty useful though as the sea walls (or if there are any!) aren't exactly going to keep the water off you at high tide.
