Obviously, this image has imperfections galore. Somehow, I like it with its flaws. Parts of the petals are like lips, slightly bruised, almost human.

Lake Umiam (also known as Barapani) in the state of Meghalaya in India.

According to local mythology, two sisters from the heavens made their way to Meghalaya. One the way, they lost each other and, eventually, only one of the sisters managed to arrive at their intended destination. She waited for the other sister to join her but that never happened.

The one sister of the heavens, who made it to Meghalaya, sat by the side of the hills and cried. The tears she shed, helped form Lake Umiam.

I think it looks better on black.
