Hiking down from Nevada Fall we took a rest at the Emerald Pool. There we met this little squirrel, who was really determined to get his hands on our apples.
I know you're not supposed to feed the wild animals in Yosemite National Park, but he nearly grabbed the apples while we were still eating them ;-)

Yosemite Falls as seen from Cook's Meadow. This was the first National Park we visited in our tour of the southwest, and we were amazed how crowded it was. Just look at all the cars! We aren't used to that; in Switzerland you can get everywhere by public transport.

We toured the southwestern USA last summer and started in San Francisco. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good, but the sights were beautiful nevertheless.

Op dit eilandje ligt de 5-sterren-terrein geocache IJS-CACHE. Die moesten we gewoon vinden voor het ijs zou smelten ;-) Het zag er prachtig uit met al die sneeuw en rijp!

On this little island lies the 5-star-terrain geocache IJS-CACHE. We just had to go out and find it before the ice melted ;-) Covered in snow and frost everything looked so beautiful!

Happy New Year everyone!

It's been a while since I've been active on Flickr. My mom passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60 and I've had a hard time coping with that. Photography was about the last thing on my mind.

During summer I started taking photos again, but after our holiday I've been extremely busy with school and a new job. Therefore one of my New Year's resolutions for 2009 was to make time for photography and Flickr again, so here's my first photo.

I'd like to thank all my Flickr friends for their love and support last year, and wish you all a wonderful 2009!

P.S.: The photo is a macro of frost on the grass. I took it last weekend on a sunny day.

Our pet lovebird Pico just after he's taken a bath... in his water cup.
He does have a proper bath, but is afraid of it. Instead he usually steps into his water cup, tries to splash around and then finds out the space is far too small ;-)

I took this photo last July in a narrow street in Girona, Spain.
I'm pleased with the silhouette-like effect on the first lantern against the blue sky, but I would have wanted the other lanterns to be more visible.
I feel I had to choose between underexposing the street and overexposing the sky. Improvement suggestions are very welcome...

Our lilac is blooming for the third time this year (first bloom in May, second bloom in July).
Onze sering bloeit voor de derde keer dit jaar (eerste bloei in mei, tweede bloei in juli).
