Escher's Balcony in 3D Stereo

neil.nathanson posted a photo:

Tim Kondermann created the original photo inspired by M.C. Escher’s “Balcony”. He did a fantastic job, see it here and in his set he has other related images.
www.flickr.com/photos/konderminator/889049780/in/set-7215...

And here is the original that these are all tributes to...
www.andrewlipson.com/escher/balcony.html with a fun Lego version as well.

This is a work that I thought would really benefit from a 3D treatment. I under-estimated how much work it would be to convert this to 3D. That’s OK as I truly enjoyed doing this. Special thanks to Tim for allowing me to work with his fantastic image. He is a true craftsman.

Designed to be viewed as a slideshow…

Cross view these photos to see the 3D.

Step 1 - Cross your eyes until you see 4 images instead of 2.

Step 2 - Then relax your view so the images move together and you see only 3 images.

Step 3 - When you see 3 images stop changing your focus and you will see the center image is 3D.

Optional - 4th step - You can also raise your hands to the sides of your eyes to block out the 2 outer images so you only see the center one in 3D!

Oh yeah, one more thing... you should be about 2 or 3 feet from the screen and if you are having trouble move closer or farther from the screen, sometimes that helps.

Enjoy

Enjoy
