Another one from the archive (or ark?). The final outdoor appearance of our second season - "at home" in Inverness City Centre where again September turned out out to be better weather than earlier in the year.. Both Drummies on parade too - sadly Donald suffered a stroke a couple of years ago.

Who needs pipers anyway!

The Band's Drums Corps practice alone - and they could not have been bad, cos they went on to win the Grade 4B Drumming trophy (as well as the Grade 4B Scottish Pipe Band Championship) that day.

The Band leads the 2007 Highland Year of Culture Finale parade along Huntly Street Inverness. Other musical groups were sited along the route, including the Isle of Skye Pipe Band who played the procession past at Waterloo Bridge and then followed on, and Ullapool and District Pipe Band who were at the New Harbour entrance. The scale of the procession was such that Skye PB - at the tail end of the parade when it left Grant Street - were in the middle of it by the time they reached the New Harbour, where Ullapool PB joined the end. It was 30 minutes after we reached the Kessock Bridge venue (where Ross & Cromarty Pipes & Drums School Pipe Band and Dingwall RBL Pipe Band had been playing for the crowds there) before the other two Bands in the procession could join up with us!

... and it was very, very cold!!! (especially walking backwards, as I was!!)

This is one of our very talented tenor drummers, Amy, who today (10th Nov) became Mrs Graham Prentice. The couple invited the band to the evening reception and asked if we could play, so we staged a mini-band (6 pipers, 3 snare drummers, 2 tenors, 1 bass). Amy also wanted to play as part of the band for part of the time, so here she is in all her wedding finery.

Wishing the happy couple all the best for the future.

Having played in Falcon Square, and then in a local hostelry, some of the band members still were not satisfied - so it was up to the Castle for a finale to our final outdoor performance of the year! What a vista!

Playing (in pouring rain) at the opening of the new outdoor ampi-theathre at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, Skye's Gaelic College, in September 2003. This was the first season of the Band, and already we had a high profile event!

This building, the second one on the site, was occupied in 1999. Its predecessor was then flattened to make the car park from where this photograph was taken.

Northern Constabulary (created from amalgamations in 1975) polices the Scottish Highlands & Islands. This building. locarted on the outskirts of the City of Inverness, provides all the Headqaurters functions for the force. www.northern.police.uk

The force permits the Northern Constabulary Community Pipe Band www.norconpipeband.co.uk to use part of the building for Band practice (Monday and Wednesday evenings).

The Band - the largest we have ever mustered to play in Inverness - emerges from Celt Street to lead the torchlit procession to the Finale of the 2007 Year of Highland Culture.

The parade took 45 minutes to walk from Huntly Street, along the banks of the River Ness, to the Kessock Bridge where a fantastic firework display marked the end of the Year. The Band comprised Drum Major Duncan MacDonald, who organised the Pipe Bands part of the event, 14 pipers (under Pipe Major Kenny Watson), 12 drummers (Leading Tip Fraser Thomson) and two sign-bearers - 29 in all, plus yours truly as gopher and scout!

and it was bitterly cold!!!!!

Pipe Sergeant Bob Cameron marks his final performance as Pipe Sergeant for the Band by welcoming the guests at the Hogmanay Ball held at Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.

Bob is not leaving the Band but has stood down as Pipe Sergeant due to being transferred to Glasgow and will thus only be available to play for us occasionally.

Shortly afterwards, Bob joined with several other Band members to form a MiniBand to play for the assembled guests at the Ball.
