HRH Princess Elisabeta of Romania (1894 - 1956) was the daughter of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie. &lt;br /&gt;
She was maried in Bucharest to the crown prince of Greece, later to become King George II of the Hellenes. &lt;br /&gt;
In 1922, on the accession of King George II to the throne,  but only a year later, in 1923, the couple was forced into exile, in Italy.&lt;br /&gt;
Elisabeta was most unhappy both with her lifestyle in Greece and with her in-law family and in 1935 she divorced and  returned to Romania, where she lived until the advent of the communist regime in 1947.  There after she lived in exile in France where she died in Cannes, on the Cote d'Azur.&lt;br /&gt;
Her former residence in Bucharest, the &amp;quot;Palatul Elisabeta&amp;quot; is now uthe official residence of her grand niece, Princess Margarita de Romania.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
