I was wandering round town walking past Jamies Italian restaurent and someone shot a champagne cork across my path. I ended up chatting to three people who were enjoying the sunshine. One was an Australian from Sydney and the other two were a recently married couple. I offered to take a group picture and send it to them. I also asked to take individual portraits for the 100 strangers project. This is Emma-Kate and she was the recent bride. She works as a designer of jewelry and is also a silversmith.

I was in the street with my camera and Matthew asked me what I take photographs of. I told him, people, places, almost everything. He was curious about me taking pictures in the street, but when I showed him some, he liked them.Then he suggested that most people use a phone and I showed him the advantage of using a camera by taking three portraits of him with the 50mm lens and a large(ish) aperture.. Our chat ended by him asking me to take some pictures of his son at a boxing club. In the end he was happy to be one of my strangers.

I had a mug of tea in the market and chatted at length with Lewellyn from Grangetown. We talked about our children in Australia and about how Cardiff had changed. At first he didn't want to be photographed, but after I showed him pictures of his friends, he was happy to be photographed for the stranger project.

I was wandering around Cardiff centre and saw Catherine outside a ladies dress shop in one of the arcades. I asked if she would pose for a portrait and she was surprised at first, but agreed. Catherine told me she ran a dress shop the other side of the arcade called pussy galore.

Sasha was working in the main shopping arcade doing some survey work on the shopping experience. I told her I wasn't in town for the shopping and asked if I could take a portrait of her. I am not sure she liked the result, but I think she looks fine in it.

My first outing on the streets of Cardiff and I saw this lady making portraits at a mobile studio next to the Cardiff story museum. She was using a Mamiya 7 film camera and doing a great job for the Cardiff International Photography Festival. When she didn't have any subjects, I approached her and we talked photography for a while. Kirsty is now based in Bristol and uses various cameras, including the X100 I used for this shot. She was happy to pose for my 100 strangers shot.

I met this lovely lady while waiting for my flight home from Perth. She had such a great smile. We talked for a while and she said she was from Penang. I had visited Penang many years ago when I was in the Air Force. She allowed me to photograph her for the 100 stranger project. Katy said it was OK as long as I e-mailed her a copy.
