Munich is a rather clean city, so looking for street art is a venture that often becomes a tedious search for hidden detail. The found items often are interesting in their subversive messages - or they are plain enigmatic. I love them because they are always food for thought.

A certain level of frustration has often been rather refreshing for dialog in a society.

Sometimes, even the vandalism committed on these little pieces of art can be picturesque...

Carnival in Munich is different. We don't have big parades like in Cologne, Mainz or Duesseldorf - people in Munich celebrate carnival more in big indoor parties because the weather tends to be rather horrible at this time of year.

But there's one outdoor exception - the dance of the Market Women on Munich's permanent outdoor food market, the Viktualienmarkt. Every year on Shrove Tuesday morning from 8 am to about 2 pm, about 5000 to 10000 people gather to see the dance.

Beside that dance, there's also a loud party going on...
