Just a baby, sadly he had an accident with the bigger fish while eating and had one of his eyes sucked out "shock" never come across this before but it shows how strong their suction can be to get to food.

New fishkeepers tend to buy a small tank and a couple of tiny goldfish not realising just how big they can grow too and so they don't live as long as they could, I am hoping my fish photo's will show adults and children alike, just how big they can grow too given the correct conditions, and hopefully save some fish from dying unnecessarily along the way.
The log you can see is roughly 14 inches/36cm, so hopefully will give an idea to how big the goldfish is.

New fishkeepers tend to buy a small tank and a couple of tiny goldfish and wonder why they die, also many do not realise just how big they can grow, hopefully this fish photo will show adults and children alike just how big they can get and then some given the correct conditions and hopefully save some fish along the way.

A lot of people do not realise just how big goldfish can grow, or how long they can live for and buy them as a short term pet, when in-fact fancies can live for at least 5 years and singletails 10-15 years when kept in a tank and 25 years plus when kept in ponds. they both grow very big, fancies can grow to roughly 8 inches and single tails around 12 inches long when looked after properly and given space to move, so not suitable for the dreaded goldfish bowl or small fish tank.

Now would you really think of keeping us in a goldfish bowl ? just look how big we grow too, in this photo we are roughly 8 to 10 inches nose to tail and still growing.

As you can see goldfish can grow quite big so not suitable for bowls or small tanks, and are poop factories so a good filter is recommended., although long term they are best suited to a pond.

Beaufortia kweichowensis "who like to play head the ball with their food pellets" quite an active hillstream loach, and will take pellet food unlike some other hillstream that feed on the goodies in the algae.
These fish are best in their own river type set up as they do better in a high oxygen water so a good filter flow is advisable.

In my Rena 450, although it is advisable to keep fancies in their own tank, this prevents the stress of being constantly chased/harassed once mature by the single tails which are faster swimmers which can cause their death.

These fish are roughly 8 inches long and still growing, sadly a lot of people don't realise that goldfish can grow large and live long lives under the correct conditions, they tend to label them as disposable fish, single tails are best suited to large ponds to allow for swimming and growing room.

Goldfish are lovely fish to keep when kept correctly, they are not suitable for goldfish bowls or small tanks, sadly this still happens which means that they don't live as long or grow as big as they should.

Single tail goldfish can grow to around 12 inches when looked after properly and live for at least 10 years but have been known to live for 25 years or more.

Why would you want to keep these lovely fish in a bowl.
Many goldfish are wrongly kept in bowls and small tanks and die early because of it., they can grow to around 12 inches when looked after properly and live for 25.
