Icelandic summer night

This is me in Sandártunga, Þjórsárdalur at 1:07 am shot just with avalable light on one of the brightest nights of the year. I was camping with my best friend and our girlfriends. Probably I was a bit drunk at the moment.

Took this photo from a bridge over the river. The river is a glacier river coming from the mountains in the background. The mountains are from left, Mt. Strútur, Mt. Eiríksjökull and Mt. Hafrafell witch is in front of the big glacier Langjökull.

Geitá river is a river flowing from the glaciers Langjökull and Þórisjökull down to Borgarfjörður valley joining few other rivers into Hvítá river.

There is a bit of a story behind this photo. While I was in the river desperately waiting for a better light (it didn't come) my girlfriend was in the car playing games on my iPad and listening to the radio. Finally when my patience ran out I got back to the car, eager to get down to camp and have a nice barbecue. But my car had different plans. It didn't start. The radio had used to much of the energy. At midnight in the middle of nowhere the battery was dead. Traffic wasn't expected until next day. But I didn't panic of course. It is a manual car and it is not hard to do a push start. Especially with about 300m of potential energy on your hand because of the incline road. There was just one problem. The car was facing uphill and it is not possible to jump start a car in reverse. Yes i tried. So we had to turn the car around on a road barely wide enough for two cars to meet. One wheel of the road and I would have to call the rescue team. Luckily I found a nice turn in the road where it was possible to turn the car a round and with a considerable pushing power we managed to turn it around. The rest was easy and we finally enjoyed our barbecue and couple of beers camp.

I usually don't use shallow dof in my landscape photography but here it felt right. It puts the attention on the small sand grass cone in the foreground.

I have been working a lot lately on my Keyword List. Makes key-wording each image hell of a lot easier. With few clicks I can add over a hundred keyword to my images that all fit but that seems to be a problem for flick because they only allow a maximum of 75 tags per photo. Maybe I should cut back a little bit on my use of synonyms.

I recently bought a Canon EF 300mm f/4 IS lens. One goal of that buy was to try to do more of wildlife photography. So this is my first good bird photograph taken at my families summerhouse. I actually went out few times during the couple of days I was staying there to photograph birds but the best one (this photo) came when I was inside, watching the TV I think. The bird just came and sat on the hand rail for a while, few meters from the window.

The waterfall Seljalandsfoss is a classic subject of photographers in Iceland. I didn't set out to go and do a sunset photo of this waterfall but to go on a glacier Sólheimajökull, who is about 30min drive from there, for a photo shoot. When the sun had set on the glacier i drove here and caught this beautiful landscape.

Made this photo for a Still life competition, but I didn't use it. Personally I think most pizza places should be banned from calling their Margarita a Margarita, because it isn´t. I've always thougt, from experience, that a pizza Margarita was a terrible food but my interest in food made me see the light. Pizza Margarita is good eats (when it's done properly ofcourse).
