Another First attempt. I made a major rookie mistake and didn't set the focus correctly before we headed out. The next ones will be more crisp I am sure. But I really like these shots.

As I was photographing this little guy I caught the tail of a bald eagle out of the corner of my eye. I got pics of him, but far away and nothing interesting.

No Explorations today, all photos were shot from the truck. This abandoned Farmhouse sits in Calhoun County Illinois near the Mississippi River. April 18th 2013 was a crazy day of rain in the St. Louis Area. I picked that day to work out of the office because the route took me to Calhoun County, one of my favorite places to drive, and shoot. It turned out to be a horrible photo day, but I salvaged about 8 worth posting.

Milky Way First Test

My first night chasing the Milky Way. This is a test pic that I saved, the sun beat me to finding a dark enough spot for a good shot! I finally went out and tried to shoot the Milky Way I didn't give myself enough time before sun up to find a dark enough spot. I'm not sure there is one around here. I kept the best test pic, which I thought would be the worst considering the Prairie State Power Plant was actually in the pic causing light pollution! You can see the dense band and the dust belt. If you look down at the bottom left you can see the plant

"Out of Nowhere" House. I call it that because I have driven past it hundreds of times, almost everyday and didn't know it was there unti land was cleared around it for commercial development!

Heavy Rains cause MANY little waterfalls on the sides of Il Rt 3 above Grafton. The problem is that there is nowhere to stop, or walk. I took this in a hurrry while trying to find a dark enough spot to shoot the milky way. The Sun beat me to the dark spot I needed but I got some good experience for my next go at it. I kept a test pic to post.
