&lt;p&gt;Real money (on the left, when it was worth something), and the 'replacements'.  Of course the little 1/2 New Penny on the right has itself now disappeared from our currency.  Even the One Penny at the bottom is different from the New Penny at the top in that the latter is a copper penny while the former is made of copper plated steel.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

&lt;p&gt;A few different views of Queen Elizabeth II.  The old penny on the left is dated 1965 but the image dates from the 1950s.  The top New Penny and the half penny to the right are both dated 1971, when the UK moved to decimalization, so the image dates from that time.  The coin at the bottom, 2001, is the current image of HM on UK coinage.   There have been some variations in the image since 1971.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
