Patsy and her husband live in our LDS ward and are family friends -- very good ones, I might add. They accompanied us to the Aloha Festival in Tempe, Arizona, where our daughter Vanessa was scheduled to perform. This semi-candid portrait, taken at that event, captures her personality quite nicely. She saw it in my camera at the time, and it I am posting it well over a month later, while she and her husband happen to be in China. I plan to send it to them via text message, although they probably won't actually see it until they return home in a few days. I really don't think she will object to having it online.

A few weeks before the festival, she prepared a meal for us and brought it over. The main dish was something I can't identify, having never had it before, but it could have passed for an Italian recipe and was very good. So good, in fact, that I interrupted the meal long enough to send the couple a text message. I suggested that if they ever needed to bribe me for any reason, that dish would put them at least within striking distance of my price. I was told later that Patsy laughed and laughed and laughed some more over that text message.
