Has been gone for 3 months today. Can you believe it? It's still hard for me to even fathom. I really am ready for another dog, I miss having one, but I don't see how we can at this point. I guess for now I'll just have to enjoy other people's dogs. :)

I'm really having a hard time finding inspiration and getting back into taking photos again. I'm sure I'll get there eventually, but until then I apologize if there isn't much new stuff from me. Here's another shot of Taci that I never shared. Definitely nothing spectacular, but I liked her eyes enough in this shot to keep it. :)

She wasn't too furry here, but when it grew out she always had fabulous ringlets of fur, especially on her ears. :) So hard to believe that on the 18th it will be 3 years since her passing. Such a sweet girl.

I still very much desire to have another dog, but my current situation prevents me from doing so just yet. Soon though, I hope. :)

Since my sweet girl's passing. Tomorrow would have been her 16th birthday as well. I can't believe I never posted this picture, I guess I never looked at it closely but I love it. :)

I know I have been severely lacking lately with my posting and I'm sorry for that, I haven't really had anything new to share and haven't been motivated to take new shots. I know I'll get back into it eventually, especially if my Christmas gift is a new portrait lens. :) But until then my posts will probably have big gaps between them.

Watching The Sun Go Down

This mixed breed dog belongs to a good friend of mine. Her name is Bonita, which is Spanish for "pretty," and she's around 9 years old or so. Such a sweet girl! She never leaves you alone for attention, pawing at your leg every time you stop petting her. :) Such a sweetie! I hate that I cut her feet off in this shot, but I had to snap it quick because she doesn't stand still for very long! We were facing the sun here as it was setting.

My computer is slowly but surely being cleaned up, but I still have no access to any of my recent digital photos, so here's one from way back in 2005. This was really when I first started becoming interested in photography, so obviously this isn't a very good photo with all the clutter in it and bad lighting. But I love how completely relaxed she looked here. I came across this and it made me smile. :) She was still feeling so good back then, it was about a year later that she started having some problems.

I have no idea when this was taken, but it was definitely a LONG time ago, when Taci was still an outside dog. For those who don't know, she was an outside dog for nearly the first half of her life! When she was around 7 years old, we almost lost her when she got out of our backyard and was hit by a truck. Obviously while she was recovering she had to be inside, so my parents learned their lesson and decided to keep her in for good.

Obviously she was an absolute mess here and was in the middle of being shaved. I know this looks REALLY bad but I assure you, once she became an inside dog she was much better taken care of. :) I came across this photo the other day while looking through a box of pictures and had to share!

We don't have many pictures of Taci when she was younger, and only one very short video, taken when she was around 2. She was adorable as a young, spunky little 2 year old and if I can figure out how to get the video from vhs tape to the computer, I will definitely post if to Flickr sometime. :) That's one of my biggest regrets, that I never got a proper video of her before she passed.

She looks different here, doesn't she? There were a lot of things that changed as the years went by. What never changed was those eyes, that happy smile and her sweet spirit. :) I can't believe it's been nearly three months since her passing.

No silly, we haven't even started yet!

It's been too long since I've posted anything of Taci. :) Even though she's gone I just can't help but continue to share my photos. This was right before I started her bath, I put her in the tub and then left to get some supplies. When I came back this is what I saw, so I had to run and grab the camera of course. Not the best shot as the lighting was terrible and it turned out pretty blurry, but I don't have many bathtub shots of her and I just couldn't resist that pleading expression of hers. :)

Meet Sisco, my next door neighbor's dog. This neighbor went with me to put Taci down. I feel like I can never repay her for that so when she asked if I would take some shots of her dog Sisco, naturally I said yes! That's what I spent today doing. He's a rescue that was found abandoned in the woods three years ago, they estimate he was about a year old at the time. I have no idea what he's mixed with, but he's such a sweet boy! This was my favorite shot of the day. It sure does feel great to be able to do some shooting again. He was certainly a challenge compared to Taci, but it's totally worth it. :)

Here's an older shot of Taci from my archives, taken in 2006. She was looking up at my brother with a smile on her face, now I like to think she's somewhere smiling down on us. :)

It's almost been a month since her passing, and I finally got the video tribute I was working on finished. It's WAY too long to upload to flickr, so I was going to upload it to vimeo, but didn't have it compressed right or something. Anyway, it's on youtube instead:

The images don't look as sharp on youtube, but it'll do, I guess. Hope you enjoy it, it wasn't easy for me to make but I feel like it's been a form of therapy for me. :)

Carved With Love

My dad is in the process of carving this piece of stone into a memorial rock for Taci's grave. It looks pretty rough at the moment, but he'll smooth it out and I think it's gonna look great! It was all his idea too, the guy who always claimed Taci drove him insane and he wanted to "put her out of her misery," or "leave her out in the country somewhere." He's always a tough talker, but really he's just a big ol' softie at heart. When we buried Taci, the "touch guy" absolutely bawled his eyes out. :)
