Every time I ride by this on the MVT, all I can think about is some Egyptian monument to a Pharaoh on the banks of the Nile. Hence the title.

I have no idea what's going on with the design element. Looks WAY too DopeSTRONG for my liking, but it's done.

The PDX weather continues. Flooding everywhere, water and dirt in place I care not to describe. I picked this shot due to its perfect depiction of the pervasive gloom we were subjected to.

That right there's Fort Warshingten. The Nation's Capital is well-defended from a river approach attack.

I feel better.

It should be noted that Fort Hunt is 200 yards behind me. We are well fortified with forts.

Day 4: 30 Mile Slow Ride | #30DaysofBiking

30 mile ride at a VERY slow pace. Awesome day with no humidity, nice breeze, and not too many "pathletes" out on the Mt Vernon Trail.

A couple of wicked storms passed through the area on Thursday (8/5) bringing some nasty wind with them. Rumors of tornados touching down were rampant but unsubtantiated. This says they did.

FYI, during the summer with full foliage, there never has been sun on this section of the Mt Vernon trail. Every tree in this area was either destroyed or had lost significant branches.

The differences in construction techniques was staggering. I drove over the old bridge only a couple of times. Once I rode my bike underneath it I never drove on it again! You could see the road shake enough that looked like it would fall through.

Demo'd span of the WWB. New span can be seen to the left. It was amazing watching this evolve. The bike path I rode on (Mt. Vernon Trail) passed directly under this.
