Pouring rain.
Cold winds.
Close to sundown.
I was the only one there, the only car in the lot...

In the distance I heard the train whistle...
Could this really happen? Finally?
I always wanted to shoot a pic of the train crossing the 1875 bridge, especially now while it's days are numbered.

I had to take cover under a pine tree to lessen the soaking of me and my camera...

I was patient and got the shot!

In Seneca Park there is one spot off the hiking trail that leads you down to the edge of the Genesee River. A rickety boardwalk takes you about 30 feet through a path of cat tails to the water. This is the view, looking north.

Ramp in Fall

Pedestrian ramp that connects to the bridge at Seneca Park, crossing the Genesee River. This long ramp is more of a curvy bridge with several curves and turns that takes you through an intense steep forest.

I had to awkwardly lay across the pavement and look like a weirdo to get this shot the way I wanted it.

What a perfect autumn day it was!

Hojack Swing Bridge at Night

This is a 4 minute exposure I shot while covering the bridge with a 2 million candle-power spotlight. I've been wanting to do this picture for a while, since this is one of my favorite Rochester landmarks. Sadly, it's days are numbered as the jerks at the Coast Guard are demanding the removal of the bridge. Charlotte Harbor will be more generic looking than ever.

Built by the King Bridge Company in 1905, the Hojack Swing Bridge is a railroad bridge that rotated to either allow trains to cross the Genesee River or clear the path for boats.

The Erie Canal once flowed through the passage underneath the building, through which water still spills into the Genesee River. This is also next to the old Rochester Subway Tunnel.

My friend Kurstie spinning fire in the cave at the base of Lower Falls in downtown Rochester, NY.

I overlooked this one when it was taken in 2009.

We had fireworks going off in the cave at the time, it made it very smokey and very orange.

For the longest time I have been wanting to get a shot of the train here. I happened to catch it on this sunny day! After I took this (with my iPhone, I did take more with my 7D), I was happy to notice the Xmas decorations were finally taken off of the lighthouse! Bonus!
