Fernweh

rasenkantenstein posted a photo:

This weekend (I include Fridays into the weekend, cause I am a student being not very busy on fridays) I want to upload some other pictures - to get more diversity on one hand but also to show some recent works.
Last weekend (friday and saturday) I met with Ivo (some of u will know him, the good ol' Crazy Ivory) and we went to some old buildings again. While on friday night (where we took some shots near Berlin Alexanderplatz) my battery lasted, it went flat on Saturday and I noticed soon enough that my emergency battery was just as flat at the other one. My photography day finished early :-)

The feeling of the "fernweh" or wanderlust or whatever is even enhanced because I am regularly posting pictures from Japan and now, after being home again for 2 months, I really want to go back.
What I wanted to show here is a guy caught in the temperatures of the cold german october. He wears black clothes and just stares at the picture of a sunny beach. His face is unimportant, because the viewer should guess oneself what she/he would make. His pose is emotionless. He has the desire to travel and go away, but is deep in thoughts.
TD: Florent

rasenkantenstein posted a photo:

(05.09.2009)
On the night of the 04.08.09 we went to Shinjuku in search for a dinner (finally we ate some Tempura). After dinner there was one voice behind us⦠âAre you American?â We wondered⦠Did he mean us? (He did). âEhhh, no⦠Germansâ, we answered. âDo you wanna drink a beer?â Thatâs how we met a bunch of Aussie guys who went to Tokyo because of a Drift-Event. We had some beers on the street with them (they always tried to avoid one street because they had dinner in a restaurant and then all ran away cause they didnât wanted to pay). We were talking, laughing a lot (because they always asked people whether they are from Americaâ¦) and on pictures they also kindly exposed their arses.
When we took the last train home we went into the common room of the hostel which was empty that day. Kai wanted to write something in his diary and I wanted to read a book. After only five minutes or so there came four people (Jean Paul, who is a Canadian and three French guys: Bruno, Nicolas and Florent). So the funny night continued for quite a long time!
Two nights later - our last one in Tokyo - we again met in the common room and took some pictures of ourselves. (Florent and Jean Paul also were into photography and maybe they also will open a flickr-account soon, I'll let you know!)
On this picture you can see Florent. He, Bruno and Nicolas stayed in Tokyo for four weeks because they wanted to learn Japanese culture and language (Bruno and Nicolas also studied Japanese language at the uni). On the next morning we had to leave the hostel at 11am and they all came down to say good-bye to us.

Did you know that I was on tour with the wonderful talented Crazy Ivory the other day? We visited some abondoned buildings and this one is from the first we were in. We had to climb in through the first floor because the ground level windows were all covered with some iron bars. Luckily someone left a leddar on the spot so it wasn't too difficult :-)
The paper in the front is a booklet with some engineering drawings. I put it in the water, it looked better there ;-) I dunno why there was water... But it was useful for taking the pictured^^
I continue later on with the Finland pictures (probably). But first some more "cinematic" results from the weekend.

This is Sacco again. Whenever she leaves her house, she takes her draftsbook with her. If she becomes bored, she'll draw something.
In this case she was very concentrated in a subway car. She was drawing a man who was sitting on her opposite side.
I think he was looking awkwardly to her as he noticed that Sacco occasionally looked at him.
Though he never saw the result.
However, I hope I can do take a lot of pictures during the holidays.

(05.09.09)

I decided to end the travel diary here – not forever, but I will also post different shots. I need more diversity again and I need to get out and take new pictures.
But of course there are still a lot of Japan pictures to come… This is the last one I took of the entire trip at Shanghai Airport, where we had to wait 5 hours to catch the connecting flight...
About 24 hours after I lost Kai. On our last day we wanted to meet Jean-Paul again (we met him the first night when we arrived in Tokyo in August). So Kai and I wanted to meet him in Shibuya station main exit. Unfortunately on the way to Shibuya I lost Kai somewhere in the subway. I couldn’t find him and his cellphone didn’t work (and mine didn’t work, too, because a week earlier I sat down on it and the display broke).
Luckily I still met Jean-Paul. We spent four hours waiting for Kai (I was calling Sacco sometimes and hoped he had called her which he didn’t). We took some pictures and talked a lot. But though Kai peeked out of the crowd he was invisible for us. After 4 hours JP and I went back to Naoki’s place (where Kai and I slept). It was 6pm. and we have always come back at around this time the previous day. JP and I didn’t wait long until Kai walked around the corner. He told us he had an awesome day in a shopping mall and was looking at girls all the time.

We had an awesome time in Japan, met new friends and people and I will come back (very soon). But before that, our new friends from Japan, Chiaki and Sacco, will visit us on Christmas :-)
TD: Kobe Station

(23.08.09)

The day we left Kobe is also the day we arrived in Hiroshima. Our next station was very special in two ways. Of course because of its historical value (more will come) but also because we would meet Chiaki again. So we eagerly entered the station and noticed we still had to wait another hour for the train. That's what we did and I took my camera around to take some pictures of the station such as this one with the quite grim cleaning staff.

But from Kobe i didn't only keep the Capsule and the sunburn in memory. Kobe was severely destroyed in an Earthquake in 1995 (and around 6500 people died - 300.000 lost their homes). There are no visible signs of what happened only around 15 years ago. All houses have been rebuilt, the streets are crowded as usual.

And so there are also a lot of restaurants that sell the famous Kobe-beef. The cattle is apparently just behind the hills of Kobe and they get regular massages and beer for food. We couriously asked for the price once... 180g cost more than a 100 Euro (I think potatos included). Nothing for those who stay in a capsule next door :-)

When we left Kobe we realised that we had only two weeks left during our so far wonderful stay in Japan.

Yesterday Marko and me were at this old storage buiding again. Just as we arrived there, seeing all the dust, feeling the dirt and smelling some kind of cat piss it started to rain... Rain really hard, we were glad that we had a roof upon our heads (sometimes, at least, on other spots the rain was pouring through). Then there were some nice thunders and lightnings and the mood for a nice creepy photoshoot was perfectly set =)
Glad we took these two "bodyguards" with us, who where watching our backs when we were leaning towards our cameras.
I took the image from the first floor, they are standing on the second floor... Alltogether the building has 5 floors, which is quite scary, when u stand on the top.. Since this building is old and noone really cares about it, the security issues have been disregarded the last years :-)

Listen to that Song: Paolo Nutini - New Shoes

It'd be a great dicision to view that on black

These are not neccassarily new shoes, then. I dunno. I know, though, they belong to Elena. Some of you guys might have already heard that i was shooting an old location recently :-)
There's not only the storage building, but also some old railroad wagons. This is the interior of one of them. It's not a bit cleaner than the building :-) In the back, there's an old matress, with the springs already reaching out. Not very comforting. The air was full of dust and so it smelled.

Ah, by the way: Although i was really expecting it, we didnt found any corpses at that place, except one of a cat, that already dried out. I may post it later on, perhaps :-)

Here's the location: maps.google.de/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=de&geoc...
