Composed image from different photos (clouds, field and tree were photographed separately).

I went for a 'plastic' look here - meaning, that you can see, that it ain't really real - I think it works very nicely with the lines of the field.

Waaaaaay better on black

Taken in July - it was foggy for 3 days on the beaches of the Cape.

Almost SOOC - I only adjusted the levels a bit, as i forgot to dial in an exposure compensation - should be at +2/3 to +1EV when shooting in such foggy conditions to get real white and not only gray. I wasn't sure if i should brighten up the bottom of the photo too, but I decided that the gradient from pure white to a bright gray gives the photo more depth.

I didn't want to add a frame in Photoshop, as it's really small then on flickr...

Technique/Processing

Just converted it to black&white using Silver Efex and then changed the white point using curves, to make the sky pure white. The sky was overcast that day, so it was no problem.

No cropping - i framed it this way ;)

Liège-Guillemins train station is the main station of the city of Liège, in eastern Belgium. It is one of the most important hubs in the country and is on the high-speed train network. The station is used by 36,000 people every day.

In 1838, only three years after the first continental railway, a line linking Brussels and Ans, in the northern suburbs of Liège, was opened. The first train station of Liège-Guillemins was inaugurated in May 1842, linking the valley to the upper Ans station. In 1843, the first international railway connection was born, linking Liège to Aachen and Cologne.

The station was modernized and improved in 1882 and in 1905 for the World Fair in Liège. This station was replaced in 1958 by a modern (for that time) one that was used until June 2007, a few months before the opening of the new Calatrava designed station.

The new station by the architect Santiago Calatrava has now been openend. It has 9 tracks and 5 platforms (three of 450m and two of 350m). All the tracks around the station have been modernized to allow high speed arrival and departure.

The new station is made of steel, glass and white concrete. It includes a monumental dome 200 metres long and 35 metres high. The building costs were € 312 million. The station was officially opened on September 18th with a show by Franco Dragone.

It was foggy on the Cape

I'm sick in bed (i hate to have a sore throat), so i won't be around much on flickr...

Technique/Processing

Shot with the 70-300 VR, slightly stopped down. I did underexpose on the camera, but i then realized the fog looked way better as pure white, thus i increased the exposure in Photoshop by about 2,5 stops for the high key effect.

Converted to b/w using silver efex.

Where

I really need a GPS logger... We were driving around Chatham to find a free parking (we didn't want to waste 15$ for the parking at the public beach) and we found this small bay with all the boats. Soooo, shot somewhere in Chatham but i really don't remember the exact location :(

P.S.: Turns out, my memory was completely wrong ;) This was taken at Nauset Heights, Orleans

Cape Cod, often referred to as simply the Cape, and called Cape of Keel by early Norse explorers, is a peninsula in the easternmost portion of the state of Massachusetts, in the Northeastern United States. It is coextensive with Barnstable County. Several smaller islands off Cape Cod, including Monomoy Island, Monomoscoy Island, Popponesset Island, and Seconsett Island, are also in Barnstable County, being part of municipalities with land on the Cape. The Cape's small-town character and large beachfront attract heavy tourism during the summer months.

Cape Cod was formed as the terminal moraine of a glacier, resulting in a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean. In 1914, the Cape Cod Canal was cut through the base or isthmus of the peninsula. It is still identified as a peninsula by geographers, who do not change landform designations based on man-made canal construction.

Unofficially, it is one of the biggest barrier islands in the world, shielding much of the Massachusetts coastline from North Atlantic storm waves. This protection helps to erode the Cape shoreline at the expense of cliffs, while protecting towns from Fairhaven to Marshfield.

Road vehicles from the mainland cross over the Cape Cod Canal via the Sagamore Bridge and the Bourne Bridge. The two bridges are parallel, with the Bourne Bridge located slightly farther southwest. In addition, the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge carries railway freight as well as tourist passenger services.

As i wrote, i was in Liège Belgium yesterday, mainly for the Guillemins station designed by Santiago Calatrava.

It was really worth the trip :)

Technique/Processing:

Shot with the Sigma 12-24, then removed the lens distortion with PTLens and converted it to b&w using Nik Silver Efex Pro
