Designed by Thomas Jefferson and modeled after a Roman temple he saw in France. Virginia's state capitol became the model for the White House and for most state capitols to follow. There is a marvelous free history tour where you will see where Arron Burr was tried for treason and much rich Virginia history

Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va , 3 US presidents are
buried here. Its well worth a tour for both nature, history and
the variety of decorated graves. Dates from colonial times but
heavy emphasis on Confederate Civil War history.

He looks rather the fancy man here but in life he was never afraid to get dirty. Out first president refused to be appointed king though the army was willing to make him one. He was a surveror, planter, plantation manager, soldier, general and the only president elected unanimously. He did much of this at great risk as there was no way of knowing he would beat the British or forage a new county. He did not live in the White House there wasnt one. There were 13 states when he was elected at age 57 and five more by the end of his second term. He agreed to wear a life mask when posing for this statue which is in the state capitol of Virginia. His home state where he lived in Mt. Vernon, owned 33,000 acres, 100s of slaves and held court with world leaders overlooking his home on
the Potomac River. The first and always the best George W.

Looks like a museum but this is the lobby where you check into the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. There is an even more elaborate lobby for tea dances and elaborate weedings. A historic landmark in the downtown area. Do you like the roof?
