As perfect a day as you can get in New York City this is downtown at City Hall Park. Like a Gershwin tune in a Woody Allen movie. The Big Apple was about as beautiful as it could possibly be in spring.

Lingerie can be fun, silly, sexy, colorful and in this case profitable. This Boston store was not showing off the Puritan roots of the founders. Its in the back bay area of shops and dining area where it is fun to window shop. Those panties add a bit of color to some of those foggy or damp New England days. Well someone has to compete with Victoria
Secret. Maybe this is must women's wear for noir detectives, spies, and secret agents
in the bedroom. To really spice it up add a raincoat and bright red lipstick.

New York City Pink, Central Park

Central Park was in its crowning glory in late April. This magnificent cherry tree is only in its prime for a week or less but its a real wow. The Olmstead designed park is truely a wonderful oasis to wander around for locals and toursits alike. One of the best free things in the city is to just sit on a bench or take a walk in this great green space.
Biggest tip the restrooms are far apart you will find them at the south end near the children's playground and a few other places. Peace and blessings.

Neon signs were a big deal for movie theaters, motels, casinos and diners in the fifties and sixties. There brilliant colors were like jewels in the night that dazzle the viewer. This wonderfully restored Crest Theater in downtown Sacramento not far from the capitol is a real jewel of urban restoration. The red, blue, green, and white tubes are true art deco. If you are a neon sign fan put it on your must see list and look at this attached link to a view of the full sign.

Beautiful Bromelaid Plants

Add some color to your home this sping and bring home a bromide. The colors are vivid and if its still winter like you can look on your table and see springtime without the bother of snow or ice. This group of plants was at my local store where I always can go to enjoy plants and usaully end up bringing home fare to many. Nature's variety is eyepopping and color is away to attract birds and insects that pollnate and bloom. There bloom usually last for two or three months but they oncly bloom once.

More experiments in silhouettes. Since my lighting wasnt the best it was natural to play with photoshop to make something fun and pleasing to the eye. Pure form, line, and color is delightful to me as is the human form. Thats what being an artist of any kind is partly about. Work, play, and discovery. Big thanks of course to my fine model too.

California Green

No this is not Ireland here but the hills of central California coastal mountains. I was driving north of San Louis Obisbo county . It is wine and "Sideways" country with vinyards, grazing pasture for cattle and hillside dotted with California white oaks. . The slight blur at the bottom is because I shot from a car window near twilight going sixty mph but I like the effect and it is both fun and frustrating to photograph from the car as you get a lot of bad shots too but in the age of digital it doesnt cost you you just hit delete and save the best. Happy spring to all.

I always love decorating cookies. We may not have all the traditional shapes and sizes but we know how to have fun and let our inner food artist be free and experimanet with colors, lines, form and who knows what will turn up. One thing I can say for sure is they all taste great and make the house smell like holiday heaven. I'm not sure if that red one is a dancing elf or a red peanut ballerina. There are no mistakes only happy accidents. Well Blessing to you all which one do you choose. Only one rule :Leave at least one for Santa please.

I used some time lapse motion on the holiday lights in the neighborhood. It was fun and I love thes sea of glowing snake lights swimming thru the night sky to light up the world so Santa can find the way to our hearts.

Impressionist Inspiration, Artist at Work, California Color

I was hiking in Santa Cruz county in California in spring and saw this artist at work, It recalled a scene by the French impressionist like Monet or perhaps Van Gogh. I used my own artistic insticts as well when cropping, and working with my photoshop tools to bring the magic and romanticism of life I felt when I saw this scene.

Cricket Closeup

There are about 900 species of crickets. They tend to be nocturnal and are often confused with grasshoppers because they have a similar body structure including jumping hind legs. Crickets are harmless to humans.This one was enjoying my rose bush.
The warmer the air the more cricket chips you will hear at night. There is a membrance in their knees that helps them recongnize other cicket songs. They are jumpers not flyers.
They eat grass and organic matter and are foof for birds, other insects and in some counties are source of protein for humans.
Imagine if you could jump 780 feet into the air . That is the equivale nt of a cricket jump. They live about one year.
Crickets use their otherwise often useless wings to make their song. While occasionally this is accomplished by the female of the species, the majority of the time it is the males. They sing to call in mates, and to warn other males that they have entered the territory of another male. An added benefit of their chirping to us, as colder weather arrives, is to listen to how many chirps they emit each minute. By dividing this count by 4, and adding the number 40, you will arrive at the approximate Fahrenheit temperature outside.

Its one of those icons that is so embedded in the mind that when you see it for real, like the Grand Canyon or a famous building like the Empire State or Big Ben that you still can't believe you are there when you are there. On the first day the mountain stayed in the clouds but as time rolled on the sun burned off the fog and one magificent morning it was on view for all to worship and walk too. I love hiking here you just walk out of town and there she blows. In fall those pine trees turn yellow and give up their needles. This is the only place I have ever seen pines do this. Glory to mother father nature and all that is good on earth. This is truely a heavenly place to go and see for yourself.

Mountain Geology, French Alps near Mount Blanc

I took this from the shuttle van as we sped toward the mountain resort of Chamonix, France. The granite uplifts reminded me of Yosemite Valley but in this case dotted with vinyards and chalets.
The wealther was overcast and though i didn't get the sharpest image I felt like a watercolor landscape popped into my camera. Southern France and all of the alps is a paradise for hikers, climbers, and nature lovers like me.

Green Day, Central Park, New York City

Central Park is the the green sea of peace and tranquility in this great city that never sleeps to stop for sleep or rest. A great place for walks where you can concentrate on bird songs instead of sirens, listen to the crack of a bat on the ball fields, hear the clop clop of horse hooves as they pull their carriage riders through the green. Designed long ago by Fredrick Olmstead it was truly one of the greatest gifts of design every granted to a city. There is a little zoo, and carosel rides for kids, as well as several playgrounds, big empty green lawns for frisbee, picnics and empic concerts. lakes for canoeing and sidewalks for lovers and skateboarders too. I got married on the east side of the park nearly 30 years ago. It was nice to get back for a visit. I enjoyed a simple lunch on the park bench. Enjoying my apple and my New York hot dog. On that spring day I could almost hear those Gershin tunes singing in my head. "It's Wonderful"
