The last light of the day was fading as we walked along a bike and footpath. The rain clouds painted the sky as the day turned to night. Another day in paradise in Kauai, Hawaii's garden island.

Vernal Falls, Yosemite, on the Mist Trail

The best hike in all of California is the 3 mile trek up to Vernal Falls in Yosemite, even with all the people on the trail it is splendid each step of the way. A great hike for all ages bring snacks or have a picnic near the top. Go in spring or anytime and give thanks. I was hiking beyond that 3 mile spot about 5 coming around from going up to Nevada Falls to get this angle Look close at the top to see the little people it gives scale to this mighty cararact of snowmelt that joins with other steams to become the Merced River at the valley floor near Happy Isles at the trail head. Follow the rules and stay behind the rails its only dangerous if you ignore the park advice. Enjoy this view or keep on going to the top of Glacier Point or even Half Dome if you have a reservation for that. Enjoy nature and support your national parks. See it LARGE The old saying "Bad Weather can equal good photos" is often true. This was taken some years back but I was glad to see the rain clouds create these great shadows and purplish sky. This is at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.

We tied love knot over thirty years ago in spring in Central Park in NYC.
My wife keeps a collection of card and letters in a shoe box so I pulled out a few before we go out to dinner this week. We have had our fights, struggles, tears, and sad days but lots hugs, sharing passion for reading, nature, kids, travel, sharing chores, colds, kisses, hugs, and sexy passion too help us keep on traveling down life's bumps and winding road. xxx and more

Bikini swimsuits and board shorts are summer fashion at the beach. Even when the Pacific Ocean is 60 degrees and very little sun shows up for weeks. You still have to make the scene especially if you are a teen or in your twenties. You can still play Frisbee and beach blanket bingo and say cheese. Need more bikinis click below:

Peanuts are the good cholesterol food. Full of fiber and good for the soil, people and some animals. My friend at the part could not resist feeding a few squirrel friends. Don't get too close if
you do this they can bite and pass on disease. You have to admit they are cute.

Lupine Fields, Kern Valley Cs alifornia

Best seen large, with wild fields of blue lupine wildflowers are a joy to hikers and bees. Named for the wolf, lupin comes in several vivid colours. This field in Kern County California is in the southern Sequoia National Forest near the Kern River. Below is a link to more lupine beauty.

Elephant Rock, Valley of Fire, Nevada

Valley o Fire State park in Nevada was created by the forces of wind, rain, heat, time and even ice. This stone elephant at the Valley of Fire a is huge remarkable landmark of the dessert. A giant rock that looks like an ancient mammoth. Elephant Rock is a testament to the many varied stone shapes at Valley of Fire, thanks to the wonders of geology and the erosive power of weather. As tiy cab see it is an easy hike from the roadway. Lake Mead is in the backgroud. Its about a hour or less drive from Las Vegas and the park makes for a great day trip. Go by the senic route along the lake and you will feel like you have entered a different planet. Here is a link too another super photo from the American southwest.

Banana Hostel, San Diego, California

Doorway to paradise here at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The surfer friendly hostel near the corner of Ocean Blvd and Mission Beach got a new paint job and those tropical colors really say welcome. The Banana Bungalow is next to an ice cream shop and the deck on top is a bar and coffee hang out place to watch surfers, bikini clad girls, skateboarders and all age beach lovers stroll by the boardwalk and then watch a sunset dazzle you on good days but beware there are just as many gray days where ocean fog rolls in and can stay all day. The best months for full San Diego sunshine are July to December. After that the ocean temps are cold so they fog up though not everyday. for another link to this area click below:

New York City Pink, Central Park

Central Park was in its crowning glory in late April. This magnificent cherry tree is only in its prime for a week or less but its a real wow. The Olmstead designed park is truely a wonderful oasis to wander around for locals and toursits alike. One of the best free things in the city is to just sit on a bench or take a walk in this great green space.
Biggest tip the restrooms are far apart you will find them at the south end near the children's playground and a few other places. Peace and blessings.

A Riot of Ranunculus, Carlsbad, California

This fiesta of color happens annually at the 50 acre commercial FlowerFields 20 miles north of San Diego. They have about every shade of ranunculus known and it is grown for both seed and cut bouquets. Its like wandering around inside a cartoon. I call it floral coral. One of the many magical spots in Yosemite is the last turn off before you exit the valley. The view is so breathtaking it often feels like you are in a dream. Spring is the best waterfall viewing time but anytime is a good time in this valley of wonder . See it LARGE and go AHHH!

Golden Tower in the River, Smith Rock State Park, Bend, Oregon

A great overlooked park in central Oregon just 20 miles north of Bend, Smith Rock State Park is a great place or both easy and challenging hikes in spectacular geology formations.. A glorious hiking place for all ages and very popular with rock climbers too. This is a upside down view of Smith Rock near twilight.

Neon signs were a big deal for movie theaters, motels, casinos and diners in the fifties and sixties. There brilliant colors were like jewels in the night that dazzle the viewer. This wonderfully restored Crest Theater in downtown Sacramento not far from the capitol is a real jewel of urban restoration. The red, blue, green, and white tubes are true art deco. If you are a neon sign fan put it on your must see list and look at this attached link to a view of the full sign.
