Today is my eldest daughter's birthday - Happy Birthday Samantha. We are having a little afternoon tea this afternoon for her - more cake yummo. There goes the diet again LOL.

African Daisy - Explore

I found this photo hiding amongst my archives today. I love African Daisies and these are growing in my garden. They begin as little green buds, change to white with green tips and finish as a lovely pink.

I have also added some updated photos of the kitchen. The plumber came yesterday and connected the sink, dishwasher, cooktop and oven and it is now almost finished. The tiles for the splashback are on order and then the kitchen will be finished. We are going to have a few days rest and our next challenge will begin. We are having floorboards put through the main part of the house and it will mean more disruption LOL.

Our Bird of Paradise is out in bloom at the moment, but the colours are not as bright as usual due to the cooler weather. I decided to boost the colour a tad to brighten an otherwise dull day.

This is a photo of a Grevillea that I took last time we visited Peter's dad for his 92nd birthday. I have never seen this variety before, so I will have to google and see if I can find out the name.

I think I overdid it while I was at the Medieval Fair yesterday as my hand has been really sore and I keep getting spasms in the thumb and wrist. I have been resting today and staying away from the computer, but I will come back later and check out your latest photos.

I think Fuchsias would be my favourite flowers - they always remind me of ballerinas. I took these photos during my visit to Swanes Nursery a couple of weeks ago and they had such a wonderful variety of plants. I love the little hearts on the stamens of the flowers in the last photo. These are hand held and taken with my 50D and the 180mm 3.5 L series macro, SOOC only resized in Photoshop.

Some more photos from my walk around the neighbourhood.

The plumber came today and Peter and his friends put up some vilaboard to cover the wires and pipes. We are now ready for the new kitchen to be installed tomorrow barring any more hiccups.

I am running late this evening as I have had my granddaughter over for a sleepover. When she was in hospital recently, she was very put out that her 3 siblings stayed overnight so Mum could stay in the hospital with her, so I promised her that she could come over by herself one night.

This is one of the beautiful Dahlias that were growing along the driveway of the house that we rented in Lochyside, Fort William. After a few days of constant rain and wind, we drove out one morning to see that all the flowers had broken off due to their size and water laden weight. What a shame.

I have been going through my photos putting them onto CDs and I came across these photos of a beautiful rose in my neighbour's garden. They were taken with the 75-300 mm lens and the Kenko 36 mm macro extension tube.
