Dhiddhoo (Dhivehi: ދިއްދޫ) is the capital of Haa Alif Atoll administrative division in the islands of republic of Maldives. The island lies on the north western tip of Tiladummati Atoll and separated from the Ihavandhippolhu Atoll by the deep Gallandhoo Kandu channel.

Originally, the island is 52 hector large and after a mega land reclamation project initiated in 2010, total land area is now around 85 hector. The Land was reclaimed to cater the needs of growing population and industries. There are some estimated 4500 people living in Dhidhdhoo and it is the second largest population in the north of Maldives.

Historically, island was an uninhabited and it was under the administration of Utheemu Gadhuvaru. The island was inhabited around 19th century when the people of Dhonakulhi left their island to escape from invasion and raids of Pirates of Malabar.

The island of Dhidhdhoo is one of the few islands in the Maldives which is safe from Drug abuse and gang fighting and other social crimes. People of the island are very hospitable and peace loving.

The people are diligent and famous for hardworking. And one example of this include the laborious ADK, popularly known as Dhidhoo Ibrahim Kaleyfaanu. He was one of the few in Maldives who had ever built such a fortune which helped many Maldivians especially people of dhidhdhoo. He was the first person who merchandised the fishing vessels in Maldives which is still back born of maldives economy.

In political perceptives, the people of dhidhdhoo are democratic and peace loving. During the admiistration of first president Mohamed Ameen,the people of Dhidhdhoo refused to join Uthuru Gadubadu (the famous up rising of people of Northern atolls). It was only people of Dhidhdhoo who refused to join the uprising against the first president Mohamed Ameen. The Uprising was a complete flop and the leaders of the uprising were severely punished.

Dhidhdhoo continued to serve its people and the people around. It is the center of trade and services in the North Thiladhnnmathi.

Tipu’s palace in Bangalore is located just behind the Kote Venkataswamy temple in the City Market area. There are many who are aware of such a place in Bangalore. Though the place is small but it is beautiful. Looks like it is maintained, the exterior gardens looks in shape. Though the old paintings on the interior walls and designs can be renovated. The construction of the palace was started by Hyder Ali in 1781 and completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791. There is a small museum on the ground floor describing various aspects of Tipu’s life, policies etc. One of his sword is on display here. Also, a interesting musical instrument is on display. The info claims that one British officer was killed in the jungle by a tiger and who defeated Tipu Sultan earlier in a battle. On hearing this Tipu made a musical instrument embossed in the belly of the tiger standing on top if a British officer.

The palace has a small balcony on the first floor on both the sides. The balcony might have been used Tipu sultan for royal assemblies. After the death of Tipu Sultan in 1799, the British posted their administrative officers here until they were transferred to Attara Kacheri (the present karnataka high court building). This historical monument is now maintained by the Archeological Survey of India.
