"The 2,008 traditional fou drums used at the Beijing Olympics opening ceremonies are being sold next month at a China Beijing Equity Exchange auction.According to the Chinese Xinhua News Agency, the drums will be auctioned off in two stages beginning March 8. 2009 First, 1,000 drums will be sold in 10, 20, 30, and 50 drum packages, with the 10 drum sets having a starting value of just under $2,000. The remaining drums may be auctioned off individually.

The company has held nine auctions, selling more than 500,000 Olympic-related items. Previous items sold include the bed used by Chinese basketball player Yao Ming."
