Lonny editor-in-chief Michelle Adams's office, above, was inspired by the living room of Nancy "Princess" Pyne (decorated by the legendary Albert Hadley).

Ideas for small spaces: Hang full-length mirrors on the wall

Okay, so this isn't a small space -- it's the J.K. Place hotel in Capri, Italy. But I love how they've used mirrors to fill the wall and make the space feel more expansive: two full-length mirrors are hung vertically, flanking a square mirror and artwork arranged in a (slightly asymmetrical) grid.

In this New York bedroom, walls are painted Surf Blue and the bed is French Quarter Gold, both by Benjamin Moore. The duvet cover and pillowcases are Dwell Studio's Draper Stripe, one of my favorites.

At Kate Spade's Manhattan flagship store, a wall leading to a dressing room is painted Salsa by Benjamin Moore. The wallpaper is Palm Leaves by Cole & Son.

Designer Eric Cohler combined cool blue and pale gray in this Park Avenue bedroom, where walls are painted Benjamin Moore's Swiss Coffee, one of the company's most popular gray paints. Curtains and shade are Dandelion from Q Collection; Greek key trim from Samuel & Sons. Silk carpet by Royalton. Silver Eggs floor lamps by Barbara Cosgrove.

Asked if he thinks blue can be too cold for interior design, Cohler said, "Not necessarily. The client wanted the room to have a sense of calm. And at what I call the "violet hour," which is my favorite time, at the end of the day, the light comes into the apartment from the west and the room is aglow."

The frilly French design is too much for me, but I dig the neutral palette and Mario Villa drawing.

Walls are painted Benjamin Moore's Pittsfield Buff. Carved Italian bed from Bush Antiques. The Villa drawing hangs between custom sconces made by Paul Gruer Designs.
