Lost no longer, madly in love!

CharsShots posted a photo:

This is really not the grand plan I had for explaining the rest of the Tux aka Tux-IV story. As it turned out I was lucky to get this far. So... in a nutshell, here he is at the Berkeley pier, from whence the little guy disappeared back in May. (That story is here: Ride 'em, Tux {Final Flickr Edition}) And now here he is back again, showing his new love where his (mis)adventures all began!

Before I go any further we need a name for the lovely new Rockhopper Penguin from the Saint Louis Zoo! She was rescued by the lovely and incredibly thoughtful maureen nichols and arrived at my doorstep the same day Tux returned! Tux didn't even say "Glad to be home" before he fell hopelessly in love, and had eyes only for her. Who can blame him? Her petite little feet, her wonderful crested hair-do, what a doll, huh?

Now then, you can read up on what Graham-IV claims happened to Tux during his absence right here: Humless and Hundgary…?

But the REAL truth, cross my heart and no, I don't hope to die, is this:

Graham-IV found a pattern for making the Linux Tux (and MY Tux was definitely the original Linux Tux, purchased many years ago by brinberkeley. I believe that's the real reason for Tux's wanderlust, since he traveled abroad so often with brinberkeley and must have been bored with my wanderings around California.) Anyway, Graham-IV - hereinafter "G." - wrote to tell me where I could download the pattern but I had to confess that sewing was not my forté. Well, sez he, "I'm a dab hand with a needle and thread. I'll just give it a go." During the next month G. decided to make several alterations to the free pattern as the original pattern would not come out looking quite like my Tux... Finally in desperation, G. made a clay model - a tailor's dress form! - and created his own pattern. And it is a WINNER!!! I have studied my new Tux alongside photos of my old buddy and I can't tell the difference. During this time G. had to attend to his real-world work, bake and decorate cakes, and keep Ms-IV placated while penguin body parts consumed their living room.

I planned to share some of the "work in progress" photos G. sent me and write the whole adventure up properly. But... actually... G's story is a MUCH better read, so I recommend that you go there (see link above). Check this out! www.flickr.com/photos/graham-iv/5914518370/

In the meantime please welcome Tux-IV and his penguinette to Toy-in-the-frame Thursday!

The penguinette informs us that her name is Adm. Grace Rockhopper and don't you forget it! She'll keep Tux-IV in line I'm sure, and debug him as needed too. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_hopper
