A nice winter sunset over Mounts Bay, West Cornwall. Just me and one other photographer on the beach....don't you just love Cornish winters.
For those of you that like birds and wildlife, we have a Pacific Diver, a very rare vagrant bird, in Mounts Bay at the moment.

Lots going on here. The swell was quite large and moving in all directions, so a few seconds exposure has made for some quite interesting movement in the water.

A high tide at Godrevy, along with a large sea swell and a decent sky, all made for a good evening out.

Godrevy is near Hayle in West Cornwall. Lovely spot but a bit dangerous walking back over the rocks from this particular viewpoint in the dark!

I need to sort out the lighthouse, it's doesn't really lean like that!

I would be interested in what you kind folk know about so called 'dead pixels' and 'hot pixels' on a new camera body. What is acceptable? Canon think a few are within the realms of acceptability even on a top spec camera! The ones on my new camera have been cloned out in this image.

A combination of a low pressure ridge, causing high winds and large onshore swells, and the highest tide of the month, made for a coastal battering at Porthleven on Thursday evening.
The Cornwall tourist board advert said "visit Cornwall for the Spring Bank Holiday week and celebrate the Jubilee on the beach"....fat chance of that!

Loch Morlich After Sunset.

I was lucky enough to get a few nice sunsets and sunrises on my recent bird watching trip to Scotland. This is Loch Morlich at the base of Cairngorm. Lots of Goldeneye ducks frequent this Loch but unfortunately they were always too far away even for my 600mm lens.

A bit of overfiltering (if that's the correct term!) has darkened the cliffs a fair bit but I like the effect so I've posted the image anyway.
The trip to Porthcurno last night with Joe Rainbow turned out to be a very wet one as we got caught out by incoming waves on more than one occasion. I must get some sensible wellies like Joe's. Anyone want some knackered trainers?

An incredibly bright sun made this particular exposure a nightmare, I like it though because of the reflected light on the left hand rock.

This is a small beach and car park that I regularly sea watch from, it's a good spot for sea birds, dolphin, porpoise and seals. I've never before taken a seascape image from here, so thought today I would try. This is the result, which I'm not convinced I like!
Anyone who may be visiting Penzance and Newlyn and wants to know the location of this spot then please don't hesitate to e.mail me for directions. It's a great place to sit in the car and watch the wildlife or just to see the fishing boats chugging in and out of Newlyn harbour.

Dunstanburgh Castle

I always try to get to this spot when up in Northumberland. This visit was for a couple of hours until after dark. From the moment I left the car and walked the mile to the beach to the moment I got back to the car I saw not one person. It was a very lonely walk back across a very dark, very eery golf course.

Been over to Porth Nanven this evening as the sunset looked very promising, this was as good as it got because about five minutes after taking this image a huge black cloud came over and spoiled the fun! Better luck next time perhaps.

Rock Eye

I've given this image an unusual title because if you study the rock in the immediate foreground there is an eye there! It's a small black pebble stuck in a crevice. The image is best viewed original size to see the detail. Follow....Actions-View all sizes-Original size. Worth checking out the size of that incoming wave while you are there too!
