CF4411 and CF4412 stand alongside Platform Three at Gosford, waiting for departure time back to Sydney with their special train.

CF4412 is the last in a second delivery of 4,400hp C44aci locomotives to leasing company CFCL Australia. Built by UGL Rail in Broadmeadow, NSW and powered by a General Electric AC drive engine, the next six locomotives will join their sister classmates in lease service all over the Australian standard gauge network.

CF4412 was named "Black Caviar" in the tradition of naming CFCL Australia locomotives after famous racehorses, following the companies tagline "Australian Horsepower". To commemorate the success of Black Caviar (the horse), the locomotive was released from the workshops in a unique colour scheme, and launched on a special train on July 7th.

S302 and T386 had brought the loaded train in earlier and paused to attach C501 (which is too heavy for the branch). The C is needed to tackle some of the steeper grades to the east.

The final gasp of daylight finds 1106, 1427 and HL203 ascending the grade up from Singleton on WC802 loaded containerised coal train, operated by Qube from Werris Creek Coal Mine for Mountain Industries (Kooragang Island). The three locomotives at the front of this train are all EMD power, however they could not be more different!

The 1100 Class locomotives were built by NREC and imported from The USA. Despite being new-build locomotives, they use reconditioned EMD 16-645E3B engines.

The 14 Class locomotives are ex Danish Railways MZ III Class, another EMD product, this time from NOHAB. Sixteen of the class were purchased and imported into Australia by "fallen flag" operator Lachlan Valley Rail Freight.

Ian Gibbs, manager of CFCL Australia poses alongside his companies newest acquisition, CF4412 "Black Caviar" on launch day at Gosford. CFCL Australia were very keen to promote their new locomotive and launch train to railway enthusiasts, encouraging the distribution of information relating to the locomotives launch. On the day, the CFCL Australia staff and their guests were exceptionally tolerant of enthusiasts keen to record every rivet of their new locomotive, and were very friendly to all involved.

G514 and BRM001 are both owned by SSR, with the BRM undergoing reliability testing prior to being offered for lease service by "Consolidated Rail Leasing", a new leasing arm of SSR.
For the 2013 'Diesel Day' event at Trainworks, CFCL Australia supplied two 1957-vintage S Class locomotives to represent modern diesel operations. After the initial amusement that these locomotives were in-fact older than many of the exhibits, one must realise that the pair is an excellent representation of modern operations in Australia - companies are still using and relying on these old veterans for day to day operations, and they're still a very relevant part of the scene.

For the 2013 'Diesel Day' event at Trainworks, the NSW Rail Transport Museum operated restored MLW/ALCo 40 Class leader 4001 as the motive power for the loop line trains between Thirlmere and Buxton, a different take on the more traditional motive power - steam locomotive 2705 (or a CPH Railmotor).

Two veteran locomotives of very different designs, with different engines, from different builders, for different rail systems on different gauges, united in 2013! MLW/ALCo import 4001 is seen here putting the loop line cars away in the yard, whilst local Clyde Engineering/EMD products S311 and S300 prepare for departure back to Goulburn.
