London Shard Lasers Launch Night

Camera London posted a photo:

A night time view across Southwark in London, and over the river Thames to the West End on the night the London Bridge Shard saw its inaugural celebrations.

A bit of a let-down from afar, several faint laser beams fired out from the Shard toward other iconic buildings and structures.

In this photo of the Millennium Wheel (or London Eye), BT Tower (or GPO/Post Office Tower) and the Elephant & Castle Strata tower, you can see one of the green lasers being fired from the Shard going right past the Wheel and on to the Houses of Parliament.

London Shard Laser Show Night

Camera London posted a photo:

The London Shard of Glass fires green laser beams as its inaugural ceremony takes place on the ground below.

Several green lasers were fired from the Shard at other iconic London buildings, none of which were visible unless you were extremely close to the giant glass tower.

There were also blue floodlights shon onto the Shard from the ground, however these were only on the northern face of it, so unless you were watching from north of the river the best you got to see was the blue halo above. Had the internal lights been switched on, it would have been a far more impressive sight all around the capital.

I hope the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony will be better than this was. Spectacular, it most certainly wasn't.
